I think anyone who manages to make lyrics work when played both ways is a genius and should be celebrated!
ELO did an album 'Secret Messages' to mock the accusations.

Q: Where did the devil come from? |
OK, I'll finish my thought: From an omnipotent, omniscient God.
Seems he goofed on that particular creation.
If God is truly "omniscient," he saw Lucifer's rebellion coming, even planned it. So, either God is not God, or the devil is not truly evil, but just doing what God designed him to do. (Thus, in effect, God is the devil.)
Also, Lucifer/Satan, before being cast out, lived at God's right hand in paradise. But heaven is a perfect, eternally blissful place, so how is it that Satan and others of his angelic ilk managed to feel dissatisfied there, hmmmm?
Of course, WE (mankind) dreamed up the devil (a veritable evil god) to cow the unbelievers into toeing the line, and to explain why bad things happen to good people, with a benevolent god supposedly in charge.
Occult? Devil worship? ha! You might as well worship a vampire, a werewolf, the Great Pumpkin, or some other such imaginary "bogieman" invented to make the kids behave, and the peasants pay their tithes.
Thoughts from the "I believe the devil is real" camp? I've got more!
(Hey, a long-ago vote here -- of which I was on the losing side -- as well as my esteemed colleague James Lee, said that we could/should talk about such things.)

More likely to be a reference to Tolkien and TLOTR: "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn."
Boo! Blood and souls for my lord Arioch!
Oh, and that nagging back pain? That's not from too long at the computer, it's because 666 is no longer alone -- he's getting out the marrow in your backbone!
And have you met 668? He's the Neighbour of the Beast....
Weee-ooo! Wee-ooo! Skrawk! Hiss! Come in, Rangoon!
Seriously, vegetable-lad, sleep deprivation is making you wacky -- it works for me!

Living in Vegas, I get a geeky little giggle every time I see "777" in big flashing lights. I think Crowley would have enjoyed it as well, if he wasn't too far gone in syphilitic dementia. I don't think Glenn Danzig would laugh...he seems like a humorless type. Although he did have a cameo on an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, so he must be able to laugh at himself a little.

yah, maybe. Good point about the Piper, there are many LOTR references in Zeppelin songs. I've only slept 3 hours in 2 days, so maybe you're right.

Maybe Gods big enough to give men the choice. To
separate them from carnal instinct and/or the natural
survival instinct that creation seems to have built
into it. And use freewill to dictate their own destiny.
Although I agree some would be better of robot
controlled. Maybe Lucifier had a choice to stand say
2nd in power and pride was his downfall. Maybe
men make similar decisions in life, basically given a
book of rules and given grace as a way out. Maybe
Jesus Christ represents(good choice) right and
Lucifier represents(bad choice) wrong. And the
decision is yours!

Lucifer means "light-bringer".
Satan means "wise one".
God, however, is a pretty generic word.
DB: Are you really saying that God would be willing to see his creation destroyed by our choices? Doesn't sound to me like he places much value on His works.

or ultimate love? he let a third of the angels fall by
their own choice, are humans, celestials or whatever
any better than angels? I dont know, but I dont see
the gain in blaming God for your deeds anymore
than claiming the devil made me do it.
maybe those that would reject God arent worth it, or
maybe they are not ignorant, as Lucifer wasnt
ignorant, they consciencely say "I want it all and I
want it now", "best of both worlds", "cancel my ticket
to the resurrection......" , etc. Sort of the credit card
syndrome, until it closes in on you. I dont know, I only
answer for myself, and where Ive been, believe me
thats enough. Dont let the hipocracy getcha down.
Long as you got hope your OK!
Thats why its a mystery!

What exactly was Lucifer's complaint (according to traditional scripture, that is)? I've heard that he thought God was paying too much attention to humans, and that's why he's been such a jerk to us ever since. Is that accurate?

no, Lucifer was Gods covering angel, Lucifer was the
most beautiful, Lucifer was the musical leader in
heaven. His pride said " I will ascend my throne
higher than Gods(maybe being closest to him, god
let him see a weakness that Lucifer thought he could
use, who knows?). But before he cast him down he
did give him the I made your boy story. Their are no
references in Biblical text that would justify what you
have heard. Nothing that I can think of that comes
close. Jesus claimed in the new testament when
tempted by Satan, that he was there when Satan(his
new name) was cast down to earth like lightening!
Kinda like you saying in your heart you are going to
takeover your fathers house, you may get kicked out,
because he dont have to put up with it. Or your dog
attacking your face!

The essence of Christianity is told us in the Garden of Eden history. The fruit that was forbidden was on the tree of knowledge. The subtext is, All the suffering you have is because you wanted to find out what was going on. You could be in the Garden of Eden if you had just kept your f**king mouth shut and hadn't asked any questions.

True enough. The most obvious characteristic of any religion, but especially christianity,is a fierce and violent (sometimes literally) opposition to knowledge and scientific progress and that has always been the basis of my opposition to it.

Years ago science and creation theory used to me
seen a complete opposites, I think science and
religion have both moved much more closer these
days as many statements and discoveries have
come out back one and the other over the last say 10
years. I think that gap has been closing for awhile.
No one seems to have a problem with say carbon
dating that says these bones are 500 trillion years
old maybe there only 500 thousand years old(dont
know), no one questions man made(which
historically are much more flawed) devices such as
this.
Mans intelligence is flawed and history proves it, we
even repeat major lessons learned say 50 years
ago, or last century in say another country, spin
doctor it some, rename it and justify it as "it aint the
same" and
do it again!

I read in the liner notes to the Blizzard of Ozz remaster that one of Ozzy's crew used to be a guitar tech for Jimmy Page. It said that Pagey gave the tech a book by Aleister Crowley, that story is what inspired Ozzy to write the lyrics for Mr. Crowley. Jimmy Page was definitely involved witht the occult as far as Aleister Crowley goes. Page even bought one of Crowley's mansions.
Does anybody know if Jimmy Page is a satanist?

The science is correct. Carbon dating is only one of the tools used to discover the age of an object.Common sense plays a part too!
Having read all your posts on this topic I have not seen you provide a single shred of documented evidence for this nonesense you spout.
"Mans intelligence is flawed and history proves it" How?
"I think science and religion have both moved much more closer these days as many statements and discoveries have come out back one and the other over the last say 10 years. I think that gap has been closing for awhile. "
You dont "think" that at all-you've just thought it up now.
Science and Religion have only moved closer together as Religion has been forced to backtrack in the light of science fact discrediting religious fiction. Besides can you back up your assertion with hard facts? The Religion you refer to is Christianity-I havent seen much pandering to modern science in more fundamentalist religions.
Do you live alone DB? Your crazy mutterings have surely never been aired in public before.Otherwise you would not have presented this rubbish to us.
