I might participate to your Holocaust thread, if I feel that my approach will not be interpreted as a justification for those deeds. I'm trying a avoid a moshkito type of post.
That may be unavoidable on that thread but your opinion is more than welcome Liz - I am passionate about the subject and cant tolerate people stating ludicrous things such as The Holocaust didnt happen, or it was just another genocide - we should not remain indifferent to what happened lest it may occur again...

Well, I underestimated it a tad... it was more than fun for me too.  I'd definitely fly in one again.  Although since then, I've become somewhat less inclined to fly. LOL  It's got so bad, I don't even want to fly my father's Radio Control 'planes either.  I never did fully get the hang of it... grrr.  I have an almost complete model too... one day he'll finish it and I may one day attempt to fly it and not crash the damned thing.  I better not, the engine cost me money!

WUT? less inclined to fly?
Well, as a matter of fact, I'm less inclined to become a pilot. LOL I plan to buy a glider and hire a pilot. I need to savour every single moment up there without being disturbed by the controls.

I'm presuming you sort of have first-hand memories of Ceausescu's regime?  I remember all that.  A dreadful time indeed. Cry

And apologies for bring that up.  I won't mention it again.  I was just curious and you don't have to answer.

Gliding frightens the living suitcase outta me but I have gone up in a helicopter at the Blue Thunder competition (yes that movie all those years ago) I applied and actually won a trip and it is unforgettable. i also flew in a 12 seater over The Grand Canyon, an invigorating experience....

'tis a ridiculous semi-fear of crashing. LOL  I think I could only trust myself at the controls.

Flying itself isn't an issue at all though.

I've also been in a large Helicopter and it hovered over the sea near to the Scilly Isles.  It scared the sh*t out of me too. LOL  Things shouldn't hover...

Flying a fix-winged aircraft isn't really that difficult in concept.  You just need to understand the concepts.  There's a guy I know who flies model aircraft (thus the same principals) and he scares me... he doesn't really know what to do a lot of the time...

I used to fly in my dreams, but I don't any more since I grew out of childhood, just like the psychoanalysis books say. Disapprove

The hovering is surreal I admit but it was the way it launched straight up and the land disappeared and became a lego playset that freaked me out. The cars and people were like toys in the blink of an eye I saw oceans that looked like puddles and vast fields that looked like Lego mats... I was unprepared for that esp as the scenery was under my feet!

Dreams about flying are about escaping the memories - the freefall is a wonderous experience but they believe if you hit the ground you are literally dead - of course theres no evidence as no one has woken up to claim one way or another but that used to always scare me...

See, the correct wing-shape will make an aircraft glide reasonably well, so if the engine dies, there's a chance of landing it reasonably safely (with light aircraft anyhow).  With a Helicopter, that's not the case.

No biggy! And I don't have any memories of the Ceausescu regime, as I was only 1 at the time of the Revolution.  For this reason, I really don't like invoking it in order to support or disprove different quotidian political arguments. Communism here, as many other regimes, are depicted in so many ways, depending on the source and how romantic that story has turned. Some miss it, some say: uuuh! dreadful!; some are in the middle. Depends.
But since I've studied genocides as a means of conflict management that eliminates diversity, I got a chance to look at some of them from a different angle.

I don't have flying dreams but I do have weird semi-flying/huge leap dreams.  In my dreams, I can either jump a huge distance or I can levitate (but in the upright position, not on my back or front).  The levitation of course is much like the jumping, as I jump into the levitation.

I am not against Communism either, Lizzy.  As we all are aware, some ideas work better in different circumstances.
