The point being made by this is not that. This stat is meaningless. I don't believe I commented on prisons being openned in rural areas as opposed to urban.

I'm not sure what you mean by my type of thinking.

Your type of anarchist thinking which is against the government but has no real alternative plan on how to deal with the social issues of the day, I, too, am disappointed with bad government policies but not to the point of anarchy, to get rid of a bad habit it is best to replace it with a good habit, not leave a vacuum, perhaps I have misread your posts and you do have solutions to social and governmental problems

Yeah I came out of the closet a few pages back. I've been one at heart for awhile.

I've been personally denying it, just as I denied I was libertarian for awhile.

Our recent posts were talking about nothing related to government.

I have plenty of plans to deal with social issues of the day. None of them happen to involve government, an institution which has never solved a societal problem that it hadn't already created.

You will die when you least expect it.  Be on edge constantly.

There you go Pat and Robert. Republicans are so much more for freedom than democrats? D

If they really have to do that, don't you agree that expecting mothers/chilrend/nameit would be as deserving of this protection as government officials?

Right, because Jared would have obviously been deterred by such a law had it been in place before he murdered six people, including a 9-year-old girl.  Ermm

Of course, such a proposal may be the result of cowardice...

When did I ever say such a thing?

The law is a joke firstly for the same reason that all gun control laws in the face of a shooting are.

The bigger joke with this one is what you point out though T. This guy thinks he's some sort of royalty. He wants the peasants disarmed in his presence for his safety. He's not upset that people died from the shooting; he's upset that a mere mortal had the audacity to assault a member of government.

I wonder if this law gets passed, if the legislators' bodyguards won't be able to pack heat anymore.  Big smile

Oh wait, no...the royalty must have their armed caravan while parading through the streets of us dregs and animals.

Wait, so would this mean that these elected officials can no longer go hunting with their buddies? Shocked

Shame this law wasn't passed before Dick Cheney shot his friend.

There are already hundreds of gun laws on the books and more laws will not change anything.
I own several firearms but I am also a strong believer in gun control. I know, and have known many people that I never want to see armed.
To legally purchase a gun you must answer "no" to every question on the application.
The Arizona shooter was able to purchase a gun because he had never spent time in a mental institution. Even though he was unstable he could answer "no" to the mental question because he was never a "mental patient".
Are there holes in the system? Of course there are.
He could just as easily have driven his car into the crowd (or, used a kitchen knife like O.J. did).
Banning guns will be extremely difficult to do and the powers that be know this.
But keep in mind the fact that the bad guys pay no attention to the law and will obtain firearms no matter what.

At least in the gun issue, I am, as Exitthelemming would say, a converted person (though I never really had a firm position anyway, just asked questions and went with the flow.)

It's embarrasing how news networks have the photo of the lone idiot 24/7 now. What do they want? Do we really need to learn every feature of his face? Are we supposed to now be scared of every average person who walks around? "See, the face of fear. Could be next door. Specially if we allow him to be too free." Now they will use his case to promote banning of books, guns, music, and the immediate institutionalization of weird teenagers who write too much bullsh*t about death. Yes, some come to be murderers like this one, but just a very minor percentage (even among paranoid schizophrenics, one of the most delusional kinds of mentally insane people).

This was an idiot. A very idiotic one. End of story.

False. Of said law had passed, Cheney's friend wouldn't have been shot, thus robbing me of countless hours of gokd and bad tv comedy and jokes...
