Sad news. Emile Heskey has retired from international football.

Today that is, not several years ago as some thought.

When I saw him as England's main forward, I though of two things:

Is this guy still playing?

Is this the best they could afford for that position? I mean, the guy was never brilliant.

4.2 million actually. Tongue

I stand corrected, I was sure I'd read a couple of years back that the population was 3 and a bit million. Obviously the Kiwis have been breeding rapidly with the consequence their football team has improved by dint of having more players to choose from!

I thought that Paston was a very impressive keeper - can we have him to replace Calamity James please?

I've heard all kinds of rumours about where players are going, and to be honest I don't beleive any of them. But yeah, I suppose you can have Paston - as long as you give him back.

Tongue

Oh, and NZ's population is booming through immigration from the Asia/Pacific region.

It isn't booming because of the Hobbits issue...? Tongue

Should we keep using this thread? It could be closed, as I think there isn't anything left to say about the World Cup... We could start a new football (all competitions) thread, or we could modify and use the EURO 2012 thread.
