Well, fees here are about 8-11k a year, depending on the number of courses you do. But the govt loan can cover those fees. Living costs are separate.

There are some things you can do like go to community college for two years to help with the cost.
$26 a unit shouldn't be that bad of a burden.

If you really are in huge debt, I think you can teach at an inner-city school for a couple of years and get your loans forgiven.

I'm just glad my parents managed to save up, especially since $ has taken a bad turn recently.
Got through school with just that one loan, and a fairly pricey school as well.
Living like a bum also helped

The private school that offered me 20k a year: tuition and total cost of living was just over 40k a year. Confused

The other private schools that offered me scholarships were between 32k and 35k a year.

The public university I'm attending is between 19k-20k a year.

Wow, that's pretty steep. I can see why scholarships are more competetive over there. My university asked me if I wanted to do a semester in the States. These were the options. I said no, it was pretty expensive.

Georgia Institute of Technology

Pennsylvania State University

Purdue University

State University of New York at New Paltz

University of California

University of Hawaii at Hilo

Yeah, those ones you listed are pretty expensive.  I myself was considering Purdue but they were the only private school that did not offer a scholarship, which would have meant 35k a year Dead

It was really effed up.  It didn't scrobble anything from my iPod until like six hours after I had plugged it in.

And hello June!

If was ever going to study in the States it would have to have a good Diplomacy/Policy Studies program. But I doubt that I'd pay anyway, I'd be more likely to go to ANU or Monash in Australia.

School is very cheap in France, as the predominant philosophy here is public support/spending for almost everything, however since quite some time the quality has dropped abruptly. I remember reading many years ago how people freaked out when a major survey came out and there were no French universities in the first 100. The Education Minister had to resign.

I've read that the state has started funding private schools that have good results, as spending on their public counterparts is just a waste of money, but that's just a minor, recent trend, and for inferiour cycles only. For university there are no other options, almost all are public.
