Here are four very obscure tracks from a defunct band with an unfortunate band name that doesn't do them justice.  I have a hunch some may really enjoy this.  Not everyone, but worth a quick spin to find out.  They are on PA but I believe I'm the only review thus far.

Be sure to start a thread though in our specific section for Prog Retailers, then keep it updated, that will bring regular attention for your great work.  Cheers!

Only Italian prog band I've invested any significant time in is Goblin.  I think they were pretty short-lived and it's not quite for everyone, but here's one song I've enjoyed.

Hey Pierre, funnily enough I only recently bought the the Showmen 2 album... as for I Camaleonti, yeah we've discussed them before, might be worth a closer inspection in the near future. Wink

Lucky you. The two "Showmen 2" are great. I don't know another example like this in pop music. The two albums are twins, but false twins. The form, the arrangements or the atmosphere are totally different. That kind of miracle could only happen in Italy Big smile

^ I had hopes for that one, but it was a bit of a letdown. Decent and all, but I thought it would be much better.

I agree Todd. It could have been much better. Really hard now to dig the past of RPI. I'm waiting for some Matt's new suggestions.

The more I listen to those two records, the more I can't choose between them.
Imagine that you find a copy of "The Sunflowers" by Van Gogh in your attic. It is very similar to the original, but it is yet very different. Different to the point that you end up no longer know which is the original. And then what happens? Now you can no longer live without the two on your side.
Of course the Showmen 2 album cannot be compared to Van Gogh, but I don't think that there is such an opportunity to listen to two ways a work that is neither one public reproduction of the other, neither an alternate take, but a complete replay.
I've often dreamed of such a miracle The Italians did it.

Today, I bought two records which I'm a bit afraid to listen to: Area's Event '76 (but if it's some improvised music or Free Jazz, I'm okay with it) and Franco Battiato's L'Egitto prima delle sabbie - and I'm not sure about this one.
Pensieri?

The Battiato is experimental music, close to minimalism. Not so great for me. I prefer the three first albums.

Pierre, I haven't heard the first, but I really enjoy the second. But you've inspired me to dig!

I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of these albums, thinking there are other Area and Battiato albums that are better. But happy hunting!

Speaking of hunting, I invite the followers of this thread to look at the 1970s Italian Prog poll series I've just begun. I would love to hear your insights!
