I agree about James Hetfield. The lyrics to "Master of Puppets" are fantastic. Dio too is great, though he's not always consistent.
 
On a completely different note, one of my favourite lyricists (and singers) is Joni Mitchell. She's really a poet.

I agree on Jim Morrison, Robert Smith and Nick Cave. Also: Geezer Butler (he was the lyricist of early Sabbath I believe), Ozzy Osbourne, Bono, King Diamond.
