I think that I would definitely go insane if I had to live with someone who listens to linkin park. But, whatever, you have to deal with it and keep listening to what you listen to.

Yeah, so does mine, among other things.
the music is not awful. mediocre at best, but the production is
truly admirable. I keep Meteora in my car just because the bass
on that CD is so damn heavy.

For a couple of grand, that problem could be taken care of permanently.

Hmm, not as bad as my old housemate..., he played "Bob The Builder" way
too much, but he did have "Fat Of The Land" by Prodigy, so that was a
slight improvement. Another housemate played a lot of Eminem,
bless her. Then the other three girls, they played cheesy chart
music. Think how I felt having to live through all that? I
had a puny portable CD player, so I couldn't drown it out. Out of
all my housemates, only one played reasonable stuff, like Cream for
instance.

It's for these reasons exactly that a very large and powerful stereo
system is a prog fan's greatest and most important investment.
MAKE THEM ALL LISTEN!

I agree, but I wasn't into prog back then really, I had a very small
collection of rather bad CDs that I hardly play anymore (i.e., Cast,
Oasis, Primal Scream, Ash, Moody Blues (odd how that crept in) and a
bit later Cream (thanks to my housemate who's mother bought him it
again). And I was a student, I couldn't afford such
luxuries. I can inflict people with my prog in the car now,
except they turn it down...

I am a student, and I consider stereo sound a necessity (in the same
way that beer is a necessity, however stereo outranks beer). I am
willing to sacrifice certain things in order to improve and maintain
perfect equalization and pure power of sound. it's almost
religious, really. kinda sad.

Three words... noise cancelling headphones. Failing that, mess with
their soundsystem and/or try listening to your music elsewhere. The
last one's probably the best shot.

I usually find an ounce or two of commercial C4 explosive improves the sound quality of Linkin Park fans' hi-fi systems enormously.

Come now, Six Eight, that's giving up! Stride into this person's room, demand manfully that the offending disc be removed, replace it with a copy of Caravan's "In The Land Of Grey and Pink", and play it at the offender until he's really sorry.
However, I should mention at this point that I have Linkin Park's first album and the remixed version.......... sorry.
