Hmmm.....cd's online from various prog vendors (Reckless in Chicago sometimes), but I sometimes will buy vinyl at used record stores in the area.
One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.

I search for and preview full albums on YouTube.
(If I decide to order I go to Amazon, Bandcamp or the band's website.)

from Svetonio Big smile .

Well, I'd say Bandcamp, Fundraisings (my last were Colin Bass and iamthemorning), 1st hand CD shops (the last Gilmour and the last Pink Floyd), and even down the road. Recently I've seen a guy from Sri Lanka selling a collection of RPI reprinted albums in a road market including things like Locanda delle Fate, Cervello, Garybaldi and so on.
I remember to have bought my Thick as a Brick vinyl copy in a supermarket....let's say, wherever I find something interesting.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Amazon, 1st hand music shop, 2nd hand music shop, sometimes direct from band.  Downloads are purchased from Amazon, iTunes, and eMusic and sometimes BandCamp.  Once in awhile I make purchased on CD Baby.  I also borrow music from the library and listen to music on Spotify and YouTube.  So pretty much anyway I can.

Probably 1st hand music store, both physical store and online stores for vinyl. I also hit 2nd hand music stores for new and used vinyl.
I buy from Synphonic (Greg W), Tonefloat, MusicDirect, Soundstage, Kscope......many others.

Mostly from Syn-Phonic Music, Amazon second, and other sources, like used music stores (CDs or Vynil), or wherever I find something interesting.

Online prog vendors like Syn-phonic (Greg Walker) and Laser's Edge, along with indie music shops and, if nobody else has it, a third party vendor on Amazon. I don't do downloads. I've bought only 2-3 CDs at Best Buy in the last 10 years. (In the '90s, Best Buy had a humongous selection loaded with indie titles and prog by Eloy, IQ, Pendragon, Renaissance, etc. Today they're basically an appliance and PC store with DVDs.)

Well if it's that kind of music, where you don't exactly get it right at first, then it's probably the woods. There is just something about walking around a forest with music in your ears.....and then by the flick of the magical switch, music that earlier seemed strange and impenetrable suddenly starts making sense...and you get it.
Yep I'll go with the woodsBig smile

Limewire? You mean illegal torrent-ing? Also, I don't know how you get music from YouTube other than one of those websites that let you convert a YouTube video to audio.

I used to take advantage of Amazon. Now I'm just sticking with Spotify and iTunes Store.

gggaaaahhhhh, i get music from A LOT of places. Youtube, Spotify, the library (which i chose just because Tongue), Amazon (w/ parents' permission), radio, internet radio (Pandora), and retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy (my personal favorite in regards to their CD collection). However, I'm confused on what's different between a 1st hand and a 2nd hand music/record shop. Any clarifications??

^ I believe "firsthand" means "new" and "secondhand" means "used".

^ Tongue   I used to be a bootlegger but probably not in the way it's defined today; I would record live performances with a high-quality stereo tape recorder.   I never published or profited from the material but it was challenging and fun.   Ah the days of outlaw fandom.
