Topic: 1972 Hard Rock...Or Whatever It Was Posted: May 02 2015 at 19:04 |
Of course, 1972 was a quintessential year for prog, but hard rock (or at least that's what we referred to it back then) was even more popular. Which of these albums I pulled out of my collection do you prefer? I'll do a few more 1972 polls (glam, acoustic, blues-rock, etc.) because the year was just so damn good.

Love Sabbath, Uriah Heep, and Deep Purple. I'm going to have to go with Machine Head, even though Vol.4 and D&W are not far behind.

All good albums....but went with BOC....that album kicked my butt when I first heard it and I became interested in the occult references which made the music even more intriguing for me.

Very hard for me to choose between "Demons and Wizards" and "Volume 4" but "Volume 4" it has to be.

Black Sabbath. I might have been tempted by Machine Head but the versions of the best songs on there sound so tame compared to the stunning Made In Japan versions.

"School's Out". Musically speaking this was an amazing band and not just because of their well known hits. For the type of rock they played I can name very few bands that were as tight or as dialed into the sound as the original Alice Cooper band. Simply a phenomenal band live.

Hard to vote against Machine Head, but Blue Oyster Cult's debut has so many great songs, and already so much promise of great things to come.

Machine Head is the one I'm most familiar with here (Highway Star, Smoke on the Water (ADER!!!) and Space Truckin'), so that gets my vote.

Machine Head used to permanently inhabit my walkman. I had 4 CDs to my name and it was my favorite.
