The hippy population of the world is slowly rising in the form of youngster pot-heads that follow Phish around the United States to all of their shows. Even though I adore Phish, I don't smoke the sweet leaf or drift from concert to concert without a clue, let alone a LIFE!!! The hippies as we knew them back in the 60s and early 70s are few and far between. After the days of the counterculture had passed, they worked at gas stations or became high school guidance counselors. These days they run used record stores or disrupt the sereneness of U.S. national parks by travelling in noisy herds on their Harley's. Some have settled down but have taken up the life of a beach-bum on weekends. Oh yeah, they also run tattoo parlors or enter the great biker buildoff contests of the Discovery Channel.

The ones that are still around evolved into granolas. the modern hippy, as our friend aqualung claims to be, is one who wants to be a part of something they were born to late to join.
I think its important for people to move past fads, and just try and work with what they have. rather than adopting a pre-fabricated persona. But *sigh* as long as there is teenagers going through identity crisis itll never happen.

Actually, redbar, not all ex-hippies work at gas stations or used record stores. Some actually serve as moderators of music web sites...
Peace. (And, yes, I have been saying that for almost 35 years.)

All I did was ask a simple question.....
|
And Jesus said unto John, "come forth and receive eternal life..."
Unfortunately, John came fifth and was stuck with a toaster.

Do you get paid to moderate this web forum? That would be the coolest job in the world. I'm sorry if I offended you about the hippy thang; I have a tendency to mindlessly succumb to stereotypes imposed on me by the media. I also thought it would kinda be funny to sound off on this thread.
