Very Sad News, i'm a big Fruup fan and always liked his vocals and bass playing. They were a great band and, i think, getting more recognition in recent years and being seen less as a division 3 or 4 provincial prog outfit on a minor label (Pye Dawn). The four lps are a solid and thoroughly enjoyable body of work. RIP Peter.

RIP to Miles Walsh. His wife posted on Facebook that he passed away on March 14. Miles is represented on Prog Archives under his solo project Milo Black, and as a member of the band Osiris The Rebirth.

I first met Miles online at the old mp3.com website, which was at the time a haven for independent, unsigned artists. Miles had loaded up his Milo Black recordings to this site around the year 2000, at about the same time I uploaded my first Superluminal Pachyderm album. Miles graciously accepted my offer to guest on my Prum album, playing electric guitar on the song "Hippopotamus" along with singer Kim Novak. He reciprocated by giving me the honor to contribute to one of his songs on his Ringworld album. We were both members of the Artists Helping Artists collective which tried to promote each others music on the mp3.com website. We both joined Kim's Strange Sandwich Music collective in which we all donated tracks to compilation CDRs manufactured by mp3.com to raise money for charities. Miles also worked with Kim on the Raspberry Silk project and teamed up with singer Duane Tate for the Grumpy & Lumpy project. We gathered monthly for streaming radio broadcasts run by member James Albert (whose Mountains of Madness project was also at mp3.com).

After the demise of mp3.com in 2003, we continued on at Strange Sandwich Music for a couple of years, but without a viable independent artists website, we drifted apart. I later reconnected with Miles on Facebook. At the time he was a member of the Hawkwind covers band Assassins of Silence. Fellow member Dave Adams and Miles joined together to form the band Osiris The Rebirth. Miles hadn't posted anything on Facebook since 2022 and I had no idea he was ill. Although we never met in person, I considered him a dear friend. RIP Miles.

Some of his music and various projects are on his Bandcamp page:

Sadly, he never re-posted his 1991 album The Tail of Oskar the Fish. I could only find one song from it still on YouTube:

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

That is really sad news.   I was looking through the collab list this weekend and I was wondering how he was doing.  I did have the pleasure of meeting him once.  We attended a Discipline and Tiles concert together.  That is really sad news.

Just yesterday evening I was watching the members list, looking at the nicknames that I knew and are missing since years for various reasons. I remember him.
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Not a celebrity, but someone who definitely left his mark here on PA... Our dear friend HT Riekels (who went as bhikkhu here), a longtime member of this site, passed away yesterday of an aggressive form of throat cancer. I am sure some of you still remember him. For Micky and me he was a real-life friend, not just an online presence, and we are both heartbroken.

Joey Molland passed last night.

Long-time Badfinger guitarist who's lived in Minnesota for decades. Met him many times at shows and even smoked a joint with him and Mike Gibbons in their dressing room. Good memory. LOL

He was a truly lovely man who always had time for over-exuberant, much younger fans hounding them at the gigs. Despite losing his bandmates, he always projected joy and gave everything to the gig at hand.

I was very young when "Killing Me Softly" was a hit, but I loved it then and still do.

RIP to Roberta Flack, singer and pianist that had a string of #1 hits in the early 1970s. She passed away on February 24 at the age of 88.
