Can't sleep so wanted to do one more of these for today. I appreciate the effort sometimes put into responses and I know it can be onerous responding to multiple ones in a short time, which is what I most feel bad about when making multiple topics in a day. And moving attention away form anyone else's topics by pushing those off the page... Oh well, I have done it.

Again, instead of having the same number of albums for each year, I decided it works better to cover a few years with differing numbers of releases while utilising all 25 options for albums. These come from the lists I made at AwesomeProg, the order isn't very meaningful. That depended on my whims at the time. I was going to move some things around for this, but then thought, "Why bother?"

Please vote for one per year (or more) albums if you have that many you like, or vote for up to five (or more) albums regardless of year. Some people like more forum to multiple votes. Hopefully a variety of people will find something to like in the list, and if you like more than that, please list more than one. Also, happy to hear about other mentions. I just ask that if ONLY mentioning others, let me know if you know any on the list. I like such deatails and it gives me more context to your post. If you know and like any, please do vote for those and mention those in a post, and mention any others. Thanks.

1987

1. Swans - Children of God
2. Dead Can Dance - Within the Realm of a Dying Sun
3. Art Zoyd - Berlin
4. David Sylvian - Secrets of the Beehive
5. Depeche Mode - Music for the Masses (not in PA)
6. Thinking Plague - Moonsongs
7. Renaldo and the Loaf - The Elbow Is Taboo

1986

1. The Camberwell Now - The Ghost Trade
2. Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Your Funeral...My Trial (not in PA)
3. Siouxsie and the Banshees - Tinderbox (not in PA)
4. Shub-Niggurath - Les morts vont vite
5. Coil - Horse Rotorvator
6. The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead (not in PA)
7. Talk Talk - The Colour of Spring
8. Depeche Mode - Black Celebration (not in PA)
9. News from Babel - Letters Home
10. Univers Zéro - Heatwave
11. Cocteau Twins - Victorialand (not in PA)

1985:

1. Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
2. Art Zoyd - Le Mariage du Ciel et de l'enfer
3. Dead Can Dance - Spleen and Ideal
4. Tuxedomoon - Holy Wars (not in PA)
5. Hellebore - Il y a des jours
6. Present - Le poison qui rend fou
7. Tom Waits - Rain Dogs (not in PA)

So really vote for as many as you want to, and hope to see other mentions that are significant to people.

^ Thanks Cristi, quite a few already voted for without comment thus far.

I often do things backwards, like doing the years in reverse order. I usually post my choices first, vote after, especially when there are multiple entries that I like to consider. I made a change, I had Skeleton Crew's The Country of Blinds, an album I really enjoyed but have not listened to in considerable years, but then noticed the complete absence of Cocteau Twins so replaced it with Victorialand (a Cocteau Twins album I have not listened to many times). That option had no vote.

Berlin - The Ghost Trade - The Colour of Spring - Hounds of Love - Secrets of the Beehive - Heatwave. All of these absolute favourites. There are even more, but six votes is already too many.

Love all of these:

1987

1. Swans - Children of God*
2. Dead Can Dance - Within the Realm of a Dying Sun*
3. Depeche Mode - Music for the Masses (not in PA)
4. Thinking Plague - Moonsongs

1986

1. Siouxsie and the Banshees - Tinderbox (not in PA)*
2. Talk Talk - The Colour of Spring*
3. Shub-Niggurath - Les morts vont vite

1985:

1. Kate Bush - Hounds of Love*
2. Dead Can Dance - Spleen and Ideal*
3. Hellebore - Il y a des jours
4. Art Zoyd - Le Mariage du Ciel et de l'enfer

-These eleven has proven the most essential for me over time. As much as I love and respect Tom Waits, I don't think I've listened to a full album of his in the last fifteen years or so (maybe The Black Rider). Among those eleven, I voted for the six I've actually played a few times in 2024/2025.

^ Is that that you know nothing from the list or that you know something but like nothing from the list?
