Please try to vote for three likes from 1970 and three likes from 1971 in the poll and mention others

This time I decided to stick with what is in PA for these two years, so no Exuma. And then I remembered that Serge Gainsbourg is not in PA even though I have the memory of adding it to Prog Related (a false memory perhaps) and I am still including it. This is what i have for my top 20 of both years. So much I love, could have many others and my list at Awesome Prog are much longer than below. The order is quite arbitrary. I want the numbering to help to differentiate the sections for the years.

This is multiple choice. Please try to vote for up to three for each year, so three from 1970 and three from 1971 in the list and mention those in a post. If you go over, it's not a big deal. If you only like one album in the list, that's fine. If you like none in the list, that's fine, please say so and mention your own favourites. I do like to see other people's favourites and lists that may or may not include the same selections that I have. Thanks. I have not bothered with an other as I want people to mention what they like on the list and not on the list in post. It's not a contest and reading through the posts interests me more than just seeing the results of the poll itself.

1970

1. Magma - Kobaïa
2. The Soft Machine - Third
3. Van der Graaf Generator - The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other
4. Amon Düül II - Yeti
5. King Crimson - Lizard
6. Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother
7. Van der Graaf Generator - H to He, Who Am the Only One
8. Supersister - Present From Nancy
9. Bo Hansson - Sagan om Ringen
10. King Crimson - In The Wake of Poseidon
11. Linda Perhacs - Parallelograms
12. Exuma - Exuma (not in PA)
13. Gentle Giant - Gentle Giant
14. Nico - Desertshore (not in PA)
15. Demon Fuzz - Afreaka!
16. Herbie Mann - Stone Flute (not in PA)
17. David Bowie - The Man Who Sold the World
18. Igor Wakhevitch - Logos
19. Tim Buckley - Lorca
20. Donald Byrd - Electric Byrd (not in PA)

1971

1. Van Der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts
2. Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire de Melody Nelson (not in PA, thought I added it before)
3. Comus - First Utterance
4. Björn J:son Lindh - Från Storstad Till Grodspad
5. David Bowie - Hunky Dory
6. Jan Dukes De Grey - Mice and Rats in the Loft
7. Can - Tago Mago
8. Igor Wakhevitch - Docteur Faust
9. Magma - 1001° Centigrades
10. Gentle Giant - Acquiring the Taste
11. Pink Floyd - Meddle
12. Popol Vuh - In den Gärten Pharaos
13. Embryo - Embryo's Rache
14. Leonard Cohen - Songs of Love and Hate (not in PA)
15. John Cale & Terry Riley - Church of Anthrax
16. Ennio Morricone - Maddalena (not in PA)
17. Earth & Fire - Song of the Marching Children
18. Ennio Morricone - L'uccello dalle piume di cristallo (not in PA)
19. Egisto Macchi - I futuribili (not in PA)
20. Ash Ra Tempel - Ash Ra Tempel

I hope various people will like multiple options in both years and that people will mention those as well as their own personal top albums.

here are my longer still lists at AwesomeProg and I do encourage more people to share their list there. Mike made an awesome resource:
https://awesomeprog.com/release-polls/pa/aoty-1970/users/Logan
https://awesomeprog.com/release-polls/pa/aoty-1971/users/Logan

PS I like that Doug and I are both doing polls based on years (really enjoying his ones despite and because of the differences) and it's neat for me to compare our lists (same goes with others here). Loved it when Psychedelic Paul and BrufordFreak were doing series on much the same theme before. I like to compare and contrast, as is common with people generally.

^ Wonderful choices, Paul, but then I would think that. Thanks for sharing, and I hope your site issues are resolved quickly and you can make some more polls. The more people making topics, the merrier.

Thanks. I've been blocked from posting three times already today, but I'll be back with more polls on Saturday (the first day of spring), even if the issue isn't resolved by then. Thumbs Up

Albums I might like to have seen?

Beggar's Opera: Act One / Waters Of Change
BJH: Once Again

then the relevant albums by:

Caravan, Colosseum, Curved Air, ELO (Debut, like none of their others), Focus, Hawkwind, Tull, Moodies & Renaissance

It's a shame Gentle Giant didn't get the love they get now back in the 70's .

1970

Destert island disc contenders (but I will give my votes to the three first):

Magma - Kobaïa
The Soft Machine - Third
Van der Graaf Generator - H to He, Who Am the Only One
King Crimson - Lizard

Nine out of ten albums, or something like that. Love them:

Supersister - Present From Nancy
Bo Hansson - Sagan om Ringen
Linda Perhacs - Parallelograms
Amon Düül II - Yeti
King Crimson - In The Wake of Poseidon
Gentle Giant - Gentle Giant

Probably still 9/10's, but closer to 8/10 than 10/10:

Van der Graaf Generator - The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other
Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother
