Here is a Poll based on my favourites in progressive music for the year 1977.....my choice is the somewhat overlooked fusion trio Giger Lenz Marron's album "Beyond".  Let me know your preference.....

Sorry to be predictable, but by 1977 most bands were on their way down, but Rush were improving with every album..

None shared this time with my list, but Rush from what I know and remember. I have enjoyed the Giger Lenz Marron, but don't actually remember the music now well-enough. Jet Lag I have heard but it did not make much of an impression on me and The Missing Piece has some lovely music but is still not one of the GG albums that I like much.

This is my top 20 for 1977 as it stands now at AwesomeProg (not much of an order, and not sure if all are correct years)

1. Franco Leprino - Integrati... Disintegrati
2. Klaus Schulze - Mirage
3. Anna Själv Tredje - Tussilago Fanfara
4. Pink Floyd - Animals
5. 森田童子 - ボーイ (Douji Morita - A Boy)
6. Univers Zéro - Univers Zero (1313)
7. David Bowie - Heroes
8. Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express (Trans-Europa Express)
9. Andre Fertier's Clivage - Regina Astris
10. David Bowie - Low
11. Alan Parsons Project - I Robot
12. Archaia - Archaïa
13. Island - Pictures
14. Ragnarok - Ragnarök
15. John Greaves, Peter Blegvad & Lisa Herman - Kew. Rhone.
16. Television - Marquee Moon
17. Plat du Jour - Plat du Jour
18. Bennie Maupin - Slow Traffic To The Right
19. Goblin - Suspiria
20. Heldon - Interface

Rush is in my longer list: https://awesomeprog.com/release-polls/pa/aoty-1977/users/Logan Hoping you and others will add your yearly lists there, Doug, if you find the time, but no pressure of course.

Rush. Famous quotes from my Mom #35: "Why are there smooshed peas all over you?"

Besides Rush, if I was going for the rest of my Top 10 of 1977, they would include (in no particular order):

Camel: Rain Dances
ELP: Works Vol 1
Eloy: Ocean
England: Garden Shed
Grobschnitt: Rockpommel
Tull: SftW
PF: Animals
Renaissance: Novella
TD: Encore

Planet Rock played Xanadu the other day.  My wife, who is not au fait with the over-rated Canadian trio asked, are those lyrics generated by AI?  How we laughed....

It would be a tough call between Encore and SftW for sure!

Rain Dances remains my favorite Camel record.

From the poll itself, I chose A Farewell to Kings.

I also like Electric Savage and Jet Lag a lot.
