![]() Shpongle - Are You Shpongled? Genres: Psybient, Psytrance This is the one that pretty much reinvented the trance game by molding it with chillout. Now trance and its related genres (although RYM claims psybient isn't a trance genre, the psytrance and psybient fans claim it is) tends to base its albums on fitting specific club standards, even going as far as to assign tempo ranges to subgenres, which gets on my nerves. But thankfully, this seems to be an album that bases itself on screwing with the very idea of genre. I've heard two of their studio albums before: Nothing Lasts, which was my intro and an excellent piece, and Ineffable Mysteries, which stands as my top trance album if you include psybient. So Sphongle's 3rd and 4th outings set a specific standard which I hold the genre to. So far, it's doing a good job.
