Like you said, including non-pa/non-prog releases will not affect the points awarded in the PA results. I would love to see your favorite releases regardless of whether they're on PA! I can add the info to the list editor view (so that in addition to the "raw" position of the release in your list, you could see the position in the pa list).

^ It's a reminder to try to get those acts into PA with albums one thinks right for PA's categories before the deadline if one wants those to count at all in one's list for this event. They would have to be suggested and evaluated by the teams and the amount of time that can take really varies from team to team and at different times and depending on how well the suggestion is made (and how clearly the music is deemed to fit its proposed category of course, which can favour cookie-cutter Prog).
I am hoping to get more personalised album suggestions based on my list at Awesome Prog before the deadline, as well as based on my tastes. I'm actually as interested in the results for the ones not included in PA ass in the official AP list for PA's albums of the year. Most of my favourite albums from this year are not in PA. And Beth Gibbons still has my top album for the year. Godspeed's is my top album in PA, with The Smile's Wall of Eyes is second position. There are still some biggies of interest to me that I have not heard. My list needs more work: https://awesomeprog.com/release-polls/ap/aoty-2024/users/Logan |

^ Yes, the non-pa releases are of course as important as the pa releases from my point of view, which isn't pa-centric. But even if one's focus is just PA, many of the non-pa prog releases will eventually get added to pa.
@richardh: I've now modified the editing view for the list to include the points awarded to the PA result. It's only visible in "pa mode" though, like through this link: https://awesomeprog.com/release-polls/pa/aoty-2024/vote.

Ok although I would still need to include an additional 2 albums in my list to count ( of course it's not an issue for me as I have 70+ albums in my total list) but I think this point may need to be reiterated for those that have only gone for 20 albums in total (there are a few I noted). So mine would now look like this with the additional 2 at the bottom that still count

Over the last couple of weeks I've been thinking a lot about how "heavy listeners" like me, who listen to hundreds of new releases each year, should prioritize releases for these end of the year polls.
TL;DR: My conclusion is that while there are dozens or releases which I've listened to once or twice and awarded high ratings, it makes no sense to include them in my list. Intuitively liking a release is one thing, but if you do not end up listening to it repeatedly over an extended period of time, it cannot be called a "favorite". So I have revised my list to only keep releases which have both high ratings and a high play count. Here's my revised list as of now. I'll spend the remainder of January listening to those releases again which a rated highly on first listen to see if I still like them as much as I did initially.

FYI:I've just added/linked about 100 more PA releases from 2024. There's now 1026 PA releases from 2024 in the AP database, so almost all the candidates you might have should be available for voting. In total there are today 3692 releases from 2024 in the database. Out of all the non-pa releases 902 are tagged as prog, and 1409 as non-prog.

^ Nice list!
FYI: There's a new experimental feature: On the voting page I've added a sidebar with similar releases. So as you add your favorite releases to your list, you'll see related releases as an inspiration. Might be releases you already know, or releases you might want to check out. The url has not changed: Just go to https://awesomeprog.com/release-polls/pa/aoty-2024/vote if you want to give it a try!

Now only 3 points seperate the heavyweight clash of the century between Big Big Train and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. Crossover v RIO/Avant (or ''Prog'' versus ''Experimental''). The gloves are out!

^ Or indeed between Symphonic Prog and Avant Prog, for those who dare to go beyond the PA genre system. Speaking of which, I think for the runner-up release at #3 (Geordie Greep), "Eclectic Prog" is quite fitting. I've just checked RYM and they are currently listing 6+ genres/subgenres in an attempt to describe the music.
