I was pleasantly surprised to learn that selecting the longest song from every album in PA's top 25 made for a list of at least 80% Prog Classics (I skipped the album actually holding the last spot: Kind of Blue). Well I think so. Most of you know from which album these are lifted from anyway, so I won't bother with the album titles. Please vote for up to five favorites if you can, and let us know which ones.
Yes - Close to the Edge (18:50) Genesis - The Battle of Epping Forest (11:46) King Crimson - Moonchild (12:11) Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick - Part 1 (22:39) Pink Floyd - Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Parts 1-5 (13:40) Pink Floyd - Time / Breathe (reprise) (7:06) Genesis - Supper's Ready (22:58) King Crimson - Starless (12:17) Pink Floyd - Dogs (17:04) Yes - Heart of the Sunrise (10:34) VdGG - The Sleepwalkers (10:26) VdGG - A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers (23:04) Genesis - The Musical Box (10:24) King - Crimson Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part One (13:36) Camel - Lady Fantasy (12:46) Camel - Lunar Sea (9:14) PFM - Il Banchetto (8:39) Rush - The Camera Eye (10:57) Rush - Cygnus X-1 Book II Hemispheres (18:04) Yes - The Gates of Delirium (21:55) Banco - L'Evoluzione (13:59) Jethro Tull - My God (7:10) Banco - Canto Nomade Per Un Prigioniero Politico (15:46) Frank Zappa - The Gumbo Variations (12:54) Gentle Giant - In a Glass House (8:26) Edited by Saperlipopette! - 3 hours 8 minutes ago at 12:20 |

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I'm kind of surprised by my own selection. From once being quite lukewarm to them I've come to love Camel this much over the years. And yep both the VdGG's gets a vote.
King Crimson - Starless VdGG - The Sleepwalkers VdGG - A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers Genesis - The Musical Box Camel - Lady Fantasy -super honorable mentions goes to: Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick - Part 1 Genesis - Supper's Ready King - Crimson Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part One (13:36) Camel - Lunar Sea Banco - Canto Nomade Per Un Prigioniero Politico -but I think most of these are great. Love the five underneath here as well: Pink Floyd - Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Parts 1-5 Yes - Heart of the Sunrise PFM - Il Banchetto Banco - L'Evoluzione Jethro Tull - My God |

If I was so inclined, I'd give five votes to A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers. But instead, I gave one vote to that track and only that track. As much as I do like some of the other tracks, I didn't want to downgrade my vote for A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers by voting for anything else.

If there had been other particular VdGG tracks, I might've considered voting for them also. But the only other VdGG track was The Sleepwalkers which is well down in my list of favourite VdGG tracks, and even below other tracks in the poll. BTW, it's a good poll, based on a good idea, which I like to see in a poll (in contrast to random polls). Edited by I prophesy disaster - 13 minutes ago at 15:15 |

Kind of hard to choose. Went with Supper's Ready, Dogs, Starless, Plague of Lighthouse Keepers, and Gates of Delirium. Every month I go to the moon and bury a truckload of clothes hampers in the soil.
