Palewell Park by Bruford (a very odd "song" - actually instrumental - for a band named after their drummer as there are no drums in it) is one of my favourite songs, and I regularly come back to it.
The song features a stunningly beautiful, emotional, yet sophisticated and subtle melody, played to perfection. Here it is: I am very keen on listening to other songs (instrumental and with voice are both welcome) that have these qualities, so please post! (Doesn't have to be prog but can be.) Drums are allowed but I'm not looking for power and energy here (at least not of the standard kind).

Many Chick Corea, or Pat Metheny songs would apply.
Here's some Jellyfish. |

Not that similar but this did come to mind, so did Rachel's:
Bobby Hutcherson - Even Later Wow, I uploaded that 14 years ago. Seems like yesterday. |

When I was brainstorming what to drop in this thread, 'Dimensione
da sogno' by Apoteosi instantly popped into my head as I envisioned the
smooth piano vibes from Massimo Idà mixed with the angelic vocals of his
sister, Silvana! |

Hi,
I was thinking that Gismonti, Garbarek and Haden album ... MAGICO ... would have a whole bunch of pieces for this. Also, on a different vein ... Sandy Denny doing Reynardine with Richard Thompson is fantastic ... and, if I have to choose one song for my theme/life, this is the one! Nice stuff all around ... and for once ... no drums ... and I could fly easy!!!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
