Okey dokey, a radio announcement for you.

Those nice people at Progzilla Radio (www.progzilla.com) have changed my radio schedule, and Lazland on Progzilla Radio is now going out WEEKLY! Yes, every Saturday at 4.00 p.m. UK time (which is 5.00 p.m. in Europe, 11.00 a.m. in New York, midnight in Hiroshima), we are going out to the world, and the tech glitches which plagued the last show not going out on time have been well and truly conquered. We will, therefore, be with you this Saturday, the 19th October! If you are listening then, please do feel free to join me in the Chat Room.

The show will be repeated at 02:00 a.m. the following Friday (so 25th October) and will be available as a podcast shortly after broadcast on Saturday.

Two hours of music & mischief, featuring music from Rush, Justin Hayward, Mostly Autumn, Autumn, Le Garcon de l'Autumne, Procol Harum, Lifesigns, Christine & The Queens, Ruby Dawn, The Bardic Depths, Kaprekar's Constant, Black Sabbath, Fish On Friday, Captain of the Lost Waves, and Nick Fletcher! Classics, old and new!

^ Sounds good! Will definitely give this a listen (though it'll most likely be the podcast recording).

This partial retirement malarky is a strange thing. Less time working for Sir Keir, thankfully, but more time to do the important things, like writing and talking about class music.

Well, class music is certainly the subject of tonight's first review of the week. Ruby Dawn and their sophomore album, Blood on Water.

Take yourselves over to https://lazland.org/album-reviews-2024-part-the-second/ruby-dawn-blood-on-water to read all about it!

Right 'oh, you lovely peoples, the Lazland on Progzilla Radio show broadcast this afternoon on the mighty Progzilla Radio went out on time, and was really rather spiffing.

It will be repeated on Progzilla at 02:00 a.m. UK time Friday, which is 21:00 EST, 18:00 wast Coast, and, I believe, 10:00 a.m. for my lovely loyal listeners in Hiroshima.

The link is at https://progzilla.com/lazland-on-progzilla-radio-episode-3/

A wonderful way for you to spend two hours.

^ Listened to this tonight and really enjoyed it. A good variety of music was featured, and I loved the light-hearted banter in between the various segments of the show. I had to laugh at the regular 'Walter Bit', which pays homage to our old PA troll WalterDigsTunes, who believed passionately that any music that came after 1988 (the year he was born) was a pile of crap, and he made sure that we were all well aware of his views lol!

New album review on www.lazland.org and it is an album from a virtuoso not recognised here at PA as a solo artist, although I have initiated a process to hopefully get that changed, take a look at Nick Fletcher and his A Longing For Home. Sheer class.

As ever, pop along to my homepage and click on the relevant button.

Well, the 'no' vote that was pointing towards a rejection for Nick as a solo artist (in JR/F at least) has changed to a 'time' vote, so it's at least step in the right direction, but we're not out of the woods yet lol! We can always give him a whirl in Crossover though if it doesn't work out for him in JR/F. Smile

I will probably regret this, but what the divil is a “time” vote?

Honestly, why would he need “time” to add him? It is such an absolute sure fire certainty for addition, it is embarrassing.

This, of course, is why the finest review website this side of Honolulu was created! To escape such bloody nonsense Wink

I have had complaints about such comments. Honestly, it strikes me as poor etiquette to use this site to promote and big-up your own site while exhibiting disdain for this site's workings. Needing time to arrive at a decision can be for various reasons. It's harder when we have so many teams. there are going to be disagreements. You felt strongly that D'Virgilio, Morse & Jennings should be added, and yet to me and others it clearly lacked the progressive/Prog merits (the personnel being its only merit).

I am not going to get into an argument with you. Given that somebody (by "hook, or by crook" under one of the artists page in question) added D'Virgilio, Morse & Jennings albums to the site, and somebody added Nick's albums to the site under a wholly inaccurate artist descriptor (as a duo with John Hackett), it would appear that I am not the only one who finds all this slightly bemusing. If you want me to answer any complaints directly (I am somewhat surprised that anybody rational would complain about these posts, but there we go), I am more than happy to do so.

As for "bigging up" my own site, I can absolutely assure you that I do not need to do so. Getting rid of this thread would not make a blind bit of difference to the traffic I get. I update it here as a service for those who like what I write, and generally did so when I wrote reviews for PA. These people will visit my site whether I use PA, or not. I have expressed disdain for this site's workings for a long time, not just since setting up my own site, and I am not on my own, either.

I'm not looking for an argument either, Steve. Concerns have been raised with me and now I have raised a concern here. If you feel no need to promote your site here, okay, fine on the whole that you do. I had not thought that you would be a traffic-whore, so to speak. I continue to wish you well in your endeavour.

I know you have expressed disdain for this site's workings long before your site was set up, and my understanding was that that dissatisfaction played a part in you setting up your site. You also seemed to care about this site's reputation from how I have read you, but disparaging public comments about it don't help this site.

If this were my site, I would do things very differently as well. There has been space for constructive comments on improving this site (there are significant limitations to what one changes one might expect or realistically hope for). Whether you feel the need to promote your site here or not, the disregard/ negativity you have expressed for the teams and decisions has been a concern of various people.

It's not easy being on a team, it is voluntary, and I would like to see more respect shown for their efforts and acceptance when one disagrees. Many a site would not permit people who criticise that site to continuously promote their own site.

By the way, I quite commonly am fine with adding certain collaborations with other artists that one would not expect to be included on its own due to its lack of progressive musical merits under an artist name. Of course mistakes happen, especially since any registered member can add albums. And of course one can report issues to the Errors and Omissions team if something has been added erroneously.

We shall leave it there, aside from my wondering just what on earth a "traffic whore" is? It doesn't sound particularly pleasant, as, naturally, anything with the word "whore" will not.

You might wish to take that back, Greg. All I do on this thread is alert people to what is on my website. David "Yam Yam" merely pointed out something that was already being discussed in the Crossover Team bit in the Collab Zone - my response should have been posted there, but I simply hit the "quote" button here without really thinking, which was a failing, but what I wrote was hardly contentious.

^ It's an offensive term, but I mean in the sense of being hungry for website traffic. Money whore (someone who is hungry for money) is a common term in my parts. Context matters and I have not read that and will accept that about this post. That said, this is not the first time that concerns have been raised. I am more than happy to leave it there, and do appreciate you taking the time to respond and explain.
