Okay, some exciting news for all my wonderful followers and friends on this forum. As ever, I am extremely grateful to all of you for continuing to support my website. I am extremely pleased that this coming Sunday, 25th August, I will be presenting the first of my regular monthly shows (the fourth Sunday of every month) on the incredible Progzilla Radio. Lazland on Progzilla Radio will go out at 4 p.m. UK time, which is 5 p.m. European time, and a few hours before in the good old US of A.
The show will feature a mix of new and old music, an eclectic mix, and my views, so just like the website, except its on the radio! www.progzilla.com is the place to go, and it would be wonderful if as many of you as possible could join me in the chatroom whilst the show is on. More details of the playlist to follow nearer the time. Now, you will be aware that I started the Lazland YouTube video channel a few months back. I have been pleased overall with the content and feedback, but I will be cutting back on this content for a while. Firstly, there are only so many hours in the day. Secondly, as far as my passion for introducing new music and artists is concerned via the Ruminations series I started, I think Progzilla is a far better outlet for this. The audience reach will be far higher, and I prefer the medium of radio anyway. Thirdly, I have run into licensing issues with my Old Albums, New Thoughts series, specifically with EMI and Pink Floyd regarding the third in the series. I won't go into details, but suffice to say that the cost of resolving this is too great for what is a non-earning venture. It is a shame, because I didn't encounter these with the first two Yes videos, which were well received and viewed by a lot of people. Anyhow, the Progzilla collaboration will enable me to continue this series in the form of a podcast. Watch this space. My Pink Floyd The Wall is ready to go out as soon as I am able to upload it, and I think you will enjoy my thoughts on this legendary album. I will shortly be recording the second of my Marillion: A Life podcasts to be published on Progzilla as well. So, these are exciting times, and I can't wait to get stuck in. See you Sunday! |

Second, we have a duo of albums from notable French elecronic music pioneer, Richard Pinhas, one solo, the other his group Haven. Both well worthy of your attention - pop along as ever, and click on the homepage buttons!

Okey dokey, another busy night on www.lazland.org with two new album reviews.
First up, the forthcoming release from Nick Magnus, A Strange Inheritance. It is a stunner. Second, many of you will be familiar with Colin Powell, the new guitarist with Nova Cascade. His solo project, A Multitude of One, has just released Songs From The Inner World, a damned good it is, too. Both reviews can be seen on my homepage. Simply click on the relevant button! If there is anyone on this website who has not visited Lazland, why, what the bloody hell is wrong with you? No adverts, great writing, terrific music, culture at the click of a mouse! Get down there!

Land of the Orange Menace?? Surely, you mean Land of the Carmilla, erm, Kamalla, Erm, 'er indoors!! There really is some exceptional music out there, and America has been well represented recently! Next week, a review of the forthcoming Nick Magnus album to tickle your fancies, and I am hoping to finalise details of a new radio show.

Now back from holiday and back in the saddle (so, thanks as ever, Steve G for the very kind words), so two new album reviews to ease the week in gently.
First up is New Zealand originating artist, Look to Windward and a compelling album The Last Scattering Surface. Second, a fascinating study of war and the human condition from French artist Gabriel Keller and Hope Despite Everything. Both are well worth your attention, so simply take yourselves off to www.lazland.org and click away! In other news, EMI have refused me permission to post a new video on YouTube discussing The Wall as part of my "Old Album, New Thoughts" series. I had hoped to avoid getting a license from the Performing Rights authority, as the cost in addition to what I pay for the website is pretty prohibitive for what is a non-income making enterprise. However, I do understand that The Floyd are a struggling young band in dire need of their royalties, and there is therefore no bad feeling on my part. I will be exploring doing this series via a podcast, likely in partnership again with Progzilla Radio. I will keep you posted.

Just to let all of you who are kind enough to follow this thread and my website, there will be radio silence for the next week, as Mrs Laz and I are off to Valetta on a much needed holiday.
However, some exciting news will be announced shortly after my return. I have accepted an extremely kind offer from Progzilla Radio to host my own radio show, which I am so delighted with. Details to be thrashed out when I return from Malta, and I will announce it here when done 'n dusted. In the meantime, I am so grateful to all of you for your extraordinary support for my little music venture. It is greatly appreciated!

Rather later than usual (it is getting hectic here in Lazland, what with the website, video channel, radio work, and coming soon, some exciting news about a new podcast), there are two new album reviews uploaded tonight to www.lazland.org, still the greatest advert-free music website you are likely to encounter on the World Wide w**kery Web.
First up is Finnish outfit, Lighthouse Sparrows, with their new EP, the second part of Dark Matter. Second, the incredibly talented John Holden with his new album, Proximity & Chance, pure class. As ever, pop along to my homepage and click on the links. Whilst you are at it, on the video channel (link on the homepage as well), you will see the second part of my Old Album, New Thoughts series, this one the follow-up to Drama with 90125, and the June edition of my Ruminations series, featuring some wonderful music not played on the website, so all new. Enjoy, and thank you to all for your support. You are the "without whom" element of this entire project.

More great stuff Steve! The Echo Veils certainly is interesting, and you hit the new Tangent album right on the nose with your review. It's if these veteran artists were hit with a shot of rejuvenating juice lately. A great time to be listening to prog. Cheers.
