This is part three and I expect it will be the last part of a series which started as an exercise in listing some punky/ post-punk bands with two albums from each. I covered 50 acts with two releases each in the first two polls and in this I am covering 24 acts that I covered in the last two polls with two releases each as well as two from Oingo Boingo which was mentioned in the last poll. For this poll I'm not caring about how punky the release is, in some case I chose particular albums before because I felt they were more obviously punky or post-punky. For instance, had I just gone for favourites, while I love the first two Cocteau Twins albums, I would have gone with these. Here are the previous polls as hypertext links, and I wish to thank the people who responded to those: Bauhaus: Mask (1981) / Burning From the Inside (1983) black midi: Boiler Room London (live, 2019) / Cavalcade (2021)Cardiacs: Songs for Ships and Irons (compilation, 1991) / Sing to God (1996) Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds: Tender Prey (1988) / Murder Ballads (1996) The Chameleons: What Does Anything Mean? Basically (1985) / Aufführung in Berlin (archival live, 1993) Cocteau Twins: Treasure (1984) / Heaven or Leaving Las Vegas (1990) The Cure: Faith (1981) / The Head on the Door (1985) Devo: Freedom of Choice (1980) / New Traditionalists (1981) Dog Faced Hermans: Every Day Timebomb (1989) / Mental Blocks for All Ages (1989) Echo & The Bunnymen: Crocodiles (1980) / Heaven Up Here (1981) The Fall: Grotesque: After the Gramme (1980) / This Nation's Saving Grace (1985) Killing Joke: Brighter Than a Thousand Suns (1986) / Hosannas From the Basements of Hell (2006) Magazine: The Correct Use of Soap (1980) / Play (live, 1980) Melt-Banana: "Charlie" (1998) / Teeny Shiny (2000) The National: High Violet (2010) / Trouble Will Find Me (2013) Oingo Boingo: Only a Lad (1981) / Nothing to Fear (1982) Iggy Pop: Raw Power (Iggy and the Stooges, 1974) / Kill City (Iggy Pop & James Williamson, 1977) Siouxsie and The Banshees: Kaleidoscope (1980) / A Kiss in the Dreamhouse (1982) Patti Smith: Easter (1978) / Wave (1979) Swans: To Be Kind (2014) / The Glowing Man (2016) (hardest for me to choose as I love so many of its albums) Talking Heads: More Songs About Buildings and Food (1978) / Fear of Music (1979) Tuxedomoon: Half-Mute (1980) / The Ghost Sonata (1991) Wipers: Over the Edge (1983) / Land of the Lost (1986) Wire: Pink Flag (1977) / A Bell Is a Cup Until It Is Struck (1988) XTC: English Settlement (1982) / Skylarking (1986) Multiple choice enabled. Vote for three albums from the list, or more or less. I would not want to limit myself to three here. As usual a playlist, but only just started on it and they take quite time to put together so I don't know if I'll finish it as they are mostly for my interest and entertainment. Gotta go with Wire’s Pink Flag. Definitely one of my favorite albums to come out of the first wave of Punk.

Voted For: Cocteau Twins: Treasure / Heaven or Leaving Las Vegas (either album) Bauhaus: Mask (1981) / Burning From the Inside (1983) Swans: To Be Kind (2014) / The Glowing Man (2016) but it pains me to leave out: Siouxsie and The Banshees: Kaleidoscope (1980) / A Kiss in the Dreamhouse (1982) -both wonderful. -I actually ended up with Tinderbox and Peep Show as a top two of sorts. But Juju is pretty much perfect as well. I love their entire 80's output really, and there's hardly anthing I don't like. Including all their amazing hidden gems found on their #7 B-sides and EP's... also: The Cure: Faith (1981) / The Head on the Door (1985) ...and I love Cavalcade |

While Heaven or Las Vegas was the album that got me into Cocteau Twins and I could as easily vote for it, I go with Treasure today, which did take a little longer to fully open up to me. By the way, like much of this list, I only really got into the choices over the past few years. I will go with Swan's The Glowing Man, although I like To Be Kind about as much depending on mood. I do tend to play the 90s albums more, but I love most everything from Children of God up. And for my third choice I will go with Siouxsie and The Banshees' Kaleidoscope. I too love the entire 80s output and like 70s music too. Again, this is a band I got into in a big way quite late in my life (over the last couple of years) and am so glad I did. Nods to Tuxedomoon's The Ghost Sonata (I am so tempted to give it a vote), the Bauhaus albums, Wire's Pink Flag, both Cardiacs' albums (rather surprised to see no votes for it yet), both of Nick Cave's albums., as well as black midi's Cavalcade, which is the first black midi album I really fell for. All of those would be worth my votes and more here per my tastes. Glad to see as much appreciation for the music in these polls as there has been.
