"Recommend me a song that combines the lyrical depth and acoustic sound of Bob Dylan with the heavy metal intensity of Metallica."

"And then Tommy would go, 'No, dude. Like, heavy. Like PANTERA. But lush, like OASIS.' And I'm sitting there going, 'Half of these bands I've never even f*cking heard of before. Who are the MANIC STREET PREACHERS? Never heard of 'em.' And I'm trying to process, how do you blend PANTERA with OASIS or CHEAP TRICK or Bowie?"

I don't think I'm getting my message across. Did you listen to any of the examples I mentioned in my original post? Or the Thin Lizzy riff I posted later as an example of what I'm looking for? Because if you can't hear the same arrangements in both, then I don't know what to tell you. For the record, Thin Lizzy here is the least important part of the argument. They're just a vessel to represent a ver specific type of riff, because they're well known so I expected people to go "oh yeah, Thin Lizzy's harmonies, I know those", yet everyone here seems to act like I'm asking for something like Whisky in the Jar with growls, which is not the case.

Here is the Thin Lizzy harmony in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0NpmOhLYm0

Listen to that then listen to the first 1:30 mins of In Mist She was Standing by Opeth. If what I'm asking for isn't clear after that, well, good day sir.

You mention both Opeth and early In Flames, but itīs not like any of those two artists donīt use heavy chugging riffs...but somehow they are not disqualified while other melodeath and melodic doom metal artists are?

...Iīm confused, or maybe my music theory knowledge just isnīt up where it should be.(function(){function c(){var b=a.contentDocument||a.contentWindow.document;if(b){var d=b.createElement('script');d.innerHTML="window.__CF$cv$params={r:'8ae82b391ffb0a5b',t:'MTcyMjg3NTM5Ni4wMDAwMDA='};var a=document.createElement('script');a.nonce='';a.src='/cdn-cgi/challenge-platform/scripts/jsd/main.js';document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(a);";b.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(d)}}if(document.body){var a=document.createElement('iframe');a.height=1;a.width=1;a.style.position='absolute';a.style.top=0;a.style.left=0;a.style.border='none';a.style.visibility='hidden';document.body.appendChild(a);if('loading'!==document.readyState)c();else if(window.addEventListener)document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',c);else{var e=document.onreadystatechange||function(){};document.onreadystatechange=function(b){e(b);'loading'!==document.readyState&&(document.onreadystatechange=e,c())}}}})();

I'm just referencing those 2 albums in particular, Orchid and Lunar Strain. Nothing else is those bands' discographies are anything like them, or what I'm asking for. Please, let's stick to the specific examples.

But the person admitted not liking the genre, how is it wrong to tell someone that they aren't familiar with the topic when they already admitted as such?

And it's important to be so oddly specific because this is an extremely niche request so of course I also need to do the legwork to show them the right direction of my request. How am I arrogant when I'm just trying to help them too? The person who said death metal was "kitsch" sounded far more arrogant and yet I decided to ignore it.

Suggesting good bands does not equal fantastic suggestions for my request. You might as well recommend The Beatles then.

And yes, you need to be deep into a style to give an accurate recommendation. People keep bringing up Arch Enemy as if they aren't literally the biggest melodeath band in the world right now. I know them, I think they're alright, but just because they belong to the same genre as some bands I mentioned doesn't mean they're "the same". Hell, not even the bands I mentioned are, just those specific releases.

Please, whatever you assume about the sound of Opeth or In Flames or whatever, forget about it. I'm not talking Blackwater Park or Jester Race here, I'm talking other albums.

As for the songs you recommended, well, I'd say you should check these to get an accurate view of the type of riff I'm looking for:

In Flames - In Flames

Dark Tranquility - Crimson Winds

One last thing: this isn't about Thin Lizzy, or hard rock, or melodeath, it's about the example albums I've been mentioning, which I hope someone has been checking.

An utterly pointless thread. Now it seems even music related threads disintegrate into animosity here.

Oh, really? Maybe you should hear that 1992 EP in its entirety.

I did. I just don't hear the Thin Lizzy influence.

Ah, well, it seems I'm utterly at a loss as to how I might assist you…

No need for assistance LOL, it's just a simple disagreement. No harm done. Smile

The attitude's unnecessary, Fez.

I'm not a fan of Opeth and I listened to the clip. It's listenable until the vocals come in. That's a very consistent guitar harmony. The only way you'll find more songs like that is (drum roll) to keep listening till you find more songs like that.

You're better off posting this question to the Ultimate Metal forum.

Not sure why anyone chooses to interact with this arrogant ungrateful troll. Probably another fake Svetty account, all.

I want an extreme metal band that plays riffs like this: harmonized melodies, no rhythm guitar chugging along in the background or anything, just bass and drums as backing. No Tremolo, no blast beats.

I don't know that this music exists.  Buy a guitar, find some bandmates and do it yourself.

LOL
