    Posted: July 18 2024 at 10:18
Hello,

I've been offered a birthday present of about a hundred dollars of Bandcamp digital albums of my choice. My B-day was earlier this month, but it's taken me a while to do some listening to decide most of what I wanted.  So far this is what I've got in my shopping cart:
Galahad - The Long Goodbye
Magenta - Seven
Elder - Innate Passage
Rachel Flowers - Bigger on the Inside
Anathema - Weather Systems
Big Big Train - The Likes of Us
Cast - Vigesimus

So I have enough for a couple more albums. I'm gonna put in the order fairly soon, but there's so much else to choose from, I don't want to spend hours listening.  So, please give your recommendations for a couple albums on Bandcamp that I should check out (no more than two) and I'll give a listen. I'll let you know if I already have something. If two or more people recommend the same thing, I likely listen for sure.   Thanks!

Z

Today I purchased those two from Bandcamp, two of my favorite (top 10) releases of 2024 so far.

album cover
Amskray
Die Happy 2024
Prog Alt Rock
"Unexpectedly fresh and energetic, this hits the sweet spot somewhere between Radiohead, King Gizzard and The Mars Volta. Really well played and recorded, and comes with hooks and substance." (Mike, 21d ago)
album cover
Krallice
Mysterious Atmospheric Exp Prog Post Black
"I love how they combine harsh black metal with mysterious synth layers in a really memorable way." (Mike, 14d ago)

Checking out Amskray, sounds reah good, but can't find them on PA.  should be Heavy Prog, I think?

Thanks to all for your recommendations! I didn't get all the way through all the albums, but I did listen to them most of the way through. It's time to put in the order!

I think my favorite of all of these, (at least upon first listen), was A Formal Horse, so I'm definitely getting that one.  Harder to choose after that, but I'm going with Nolan Potter's Nightmare Band, and also included Richard Henshall and Wippy Bonstack (not too expensive and really good music).

Still, I'll be considering other of your recommendations for future purchases. I liked most of what heard.

Incidentally, I totally forgot that I wanted to get the new Steve Hackett album (yeah its a good one!), so I dropped Elder and Magenta for now, but I'll be returning to them soon, I think.

So, now I'm looking forward to listening to all this new music on my long road trip in a couple days. Cool
