Yep the vinyl edition I have of ELP - Brain Salad Surgery is very poor, the Sony CD reissue beats it into a cocked hat.

I’m very proud of my vinyl collection. 50 years of collecting NM copies of everything I’ve loved over the years. Nice cabinets to store them in. A decent system to play them on. It’s a great hobby, but I buy CDs regularly as well. As for sound, I believe that it’s vinyls lack of digital precision that makes it sound warmer and fills room with an imperfect sound that I know and love from my youth, like a concert. But I don’t diss the perfection of CD quality.   I try to stay away from vinyl re-issues that were just copied from a CD. But it’s hard to determine that. My best example of poor re-issued vinyl would be Hawkwind 180 gram re-issues I bought. The original vinyl outclasses the re-issues noticeably. I’d go as far as to say the reissues I bought are garbage with nice packaging.

This is for sure good news, for us vinyl lovers. Finally a new pressing machine is available for plants to purchase, most plants are working with presses that are from the 60s-70s probably and need retooling, which is probably too cost prohibitive.
