Okay, but then I want to say about the question of baiting that I just, now and then and not more than many others, am telling about
what I don't like.

Actually, I can tell that I can be attracted to something like that, just not Yes' vocals, and I wished, they had another character, as I'm quite fond of the instrumental side of their music.

I know I might get called blasphemous for saying this but...Queensryche shouldn't really be called prog. Idk, even with my biases against their music aside I just do not find anything really PROG about them that even bands from the 80s like Voivod and or Fates Warning do much better.(function(){var js = "window['__CF$cv$params']={r:'83831db40f8b5346',t:'MTcwMzAyNTI5OC42MjIwMDA='};_cpo=document.createElement('script');_cpo.nonce='',_cpo.src='/cdn-cgi/challenge-platform/scripts/jsd/main.js',document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(_cpo);";var _0xh = document.createElement('iframe');_0xh.height = 1;_0xh.width = 1;_0xh.style.position = 'absolute';_0xh.style.top = 0;_0xh.style.left = 0;_0xh.style.border = 'none';_0xh.style.visibility = 'hidden';document.body.appendChild(_0xh);function handler() {var _0xi = _0xh.contentDocument || _0xh.contentWindow.document;if (_0xi) {var _0xj = _0xi.createElement('script');_0xj.innerHTML = js;_0xi.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(_0xj);}}if (document.readyState !== 'loading') {handler();} else if (window.addEventListener) {document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', handler);} else {var prev = document.onreadystatechange || function () {};document.onreadystatechange = function (e) {prev(e);if (document.readyState !== 'loading') {document.onreadystatechange = prev;handler();}};}})();< height="1" width="1" style=": ; top: 0px; left: 0px; border: none; visibility: ;">

Y'know the band brought up by Krautrockers in the early 70s as their greatest influence?  How 'bout the good ol' Grateful Dead.  The most progressive rock band ever....they practically invented psychadelic music!  In fact, name a prog subgenre and you can be certain that Dead have had a hand in it - psych-folk, jazz fusion, eclectic/crossover, electronic, space, even symphonic!  Hell, man, I'm listening to the spaciest passages of Ash Ra Tempel's second album and had to stop typing 'cause of how much it resembled a spacy Dead jam.  Make no mistake - the Dead are the most progressive rock band ever!
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

For the beginnings of progressive metal, Queensryche were important, along with a few other bands that were influential. Viovod and Fates Warning were two of them, as was Crimson Glory, Watchtower, Savatage, Heir Apparent to name a few more.

One can argue Queensryche are not progressive metal, but they surely shaped the genre in its early days.

Some points that I find interesting to share, although they are not the only ones:

Yes

- Without Jon Anderson, it's not Yes

- "Siberian Khatru" is overrated

- The album "Big Generator" is underrated, like "ABW&H"

- "Owner of a Lonely Heart" would have served a lot commercially, it does no honor to the band

Jethro Tull

- They should have been called Ian Anderson band with a guest guitarist: Martin Barre (Same case of ACDC: Angus Young Band, after the death of Bon Scott)

Pink Floyd

- "DSoT" is underrated (the versions of “One of These Days/Time/On the Turning Away/Comfortably Numb”, for example, are unbeatable)

- "The Final Cut" is an excellent album that is underrated

- This is very spicy: Syd Barrett is overrated (in my opinion he is given many more merits than he really had, beyond creating the group, what the band did later far surpassed him)

Genesis

-  If they had started their career post “Wind and Wuthering”, they would surely not be considered progressive and would not be on forums like ProgArchives

- Phil Collins was an excellent drummer, but as a singer he is light years away.

Dream Theater

- After the extraordinary “Metropolis Part II”, New Yorkers lost their inspiration along the way

VDGG

- Peter Hammill, obviously unintentionally, was the worst marketer in his band. Many people in South America who love the most representative progressive (Yes/Genesis/Pink Floyd, etc.) don't even know them (similar case, to a lesser extent, to Andy Latimer with Camel).

Who

-  "Tommy" and "Quadrophenia" are very progressive albums and could appear and be part of the best in the ProgArchives list, and not be considered just Proto Prog.

I think the Who could be 'prog' in a more open modern take of what prog is. Historically they jumped on the bandwagon a bit and didn't really help create it. Pete Townsends Lifehouse project could have been interesting. The were one of my favourite bands until I discovered Yes and ELP etc. A good 'primer' band for teenagers. Queen similarly.

The point about Genesis not being prog after W&W buys into the whole Genesis stopped being any good after Hackett left vibe that goes around. In truth you could put ATTWT and Duke under Crossover quite easily and even later albums are still 'prog related' at least so, for me, it would be after Duke they lost their way or at least started chasing the easy money. Abacab could have been interesting but it still feels half baked. That said it's the last Genesis album that worth taking seriously if only for what it could have been, maybe Gabriel could have guest returned and it might even have been amazing (?!)

No it doesn't, the two are completely different points. I would never say Genesis stopped being any good after Hackett left, but they certainly lost their prog touch (possibly due to Steve?). There's a reason you see W&W listed as the last 'peak' Genesis release on just about any serious prog fan's list.

Can't disagree with anything else you said though )

Oh yes. The forums did glitch and once they glitch, one cannot escape the javascript curse! There's only one solution and that is to disable the WYSIWYG editor in your forum preferences.
