Tangerine Dream: Untangling the Tangram

I hadn't realised that he had recorded a number of albums that were essentialy solo albums but marketed as Tangerine Dream. There are also the bunch of 2005 re-recordings of his best early material (up to Pinnacles) which seem to have decent ratings. I've not listened to any of them. I feel the need for a new playlist coming on!

No, that would've been purgatory. I only listened to brief snippets of all of those Schnitzler albums listed above. Life is too short to listen to all of Conrad Schnitzler's albums in full, bearing in mind minimalist experimental music is really not my cup of tea. 

CONRAD SCHNITZLER   (1937-2011)   One of the original TD trio (alongside Edgar Froese & Klaus Schulze) on Tangerine Dream's first album, Electronic Meditation, experimental musician Conrad Schnitzler (gesundheit!) is Germany's answer to Brian Eno, having also been a founder member of experimental band Kluster (not to be confused with Krautrock band Cluster) together with Hans Roedelius & Dieter Moebius, who Brian Eno has also worked with in the past. Conrad Schnitzler's experimental albums won't be to everyone's taste, but at least they're Con-sistent, with the vast majority of Con-rad's album titles Con-sisting of endless variations of words beginning with the syllable "Con".

And with that in mind, here's a brief rundown of all Tangerine Dream albums and live performances featuring lovely Linda.

Same. I think she added something to the band that was not as clearly seen as it is now. There was a touch, a sensuality that came through, which I think was from her. 

Just sad, that it appears that she has quit music altogether. Nothing from her anywhere that makes sense, and it's like a whole musical life, thrown away ... there, obviously, was something else going on that we didn't/don't know about ... people don't get "hurt" like that and not recover unless it affects the mortal coil. 

I remember a few years back I wrote her a poem, and sent it and she thanked me nicely, and was appreciative, and all I wanted was to see "the rose" bloom again ... it hasn't yet, despite the rose bush at the lake blooming beautifully and attracting all the young deer, and over here in my front door, a dilapidated rose bush, still gives us a bloom or two each and every time.

I guess we can only hope that she is capable of creating something worth while, though I think that it might not "stand up" to the TD flow and standard, but even if it were just solo piano, I would be happy! I would be even happier with "Linda's Garden", but I'm not sure she can hear me! Maybe I'll do the poems in voice with the music and send them to her  ... this time with music. It won't be my first time doing my poetry to music, having first done it on the Ygdrasil Journal of Poetic Arts in the 1999 audio issue I created for the magazine. 

Ideas ... ideas ... damn, I hate ideas!

A one-off EP that's never been released on CD, presumably because 27 minutes is far too short for a Tangerine Dream EP.
