Hot take, or at least pretty warm: Magma never bettered its 1970 debut, and it's the peak of Magma. But MDK is more quotable (as a cold take).

Cool take: Had Christian Vander guested on an album with Peter Hammill and friends, Vander Graaf Generator would have been a cool name.

Luke-warm take: Had Christian Vander teamed up on a film with Mark Hamill as his uncle Peter Hammill's brother, Darth Vander, it would have been cool.

Darth Vander: "Luke, Kobaïa is de Hündïn, kreühn köhrmahn iss de hündïn..."
Luke Skywalker: "Noooooooooo!"

The Wheel of Time Turns, and Ages come and pass. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the shadow.

Six Wives Of Henry VIII is the best instrumental prog album
Supertramp were a full on prog band
Tangerine Dream made better albums after the 70's
Eloy were the best prog band between 1973 and 1982
'Clone bands' is not a thing
Alternative music is not prog
King Crimson didn't invent prog rock

Subterranea is a mid-tier album. Too Long. Could've used some editing
The Wheel of Time Turns, and Ages come and pass. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the shadow.

Some of mine:

Tales is the Best Yes Album
Shine On > Echoes
Time and a Word > The Yes Album

^^ Relayer is my favourite but I think Tales is a strong contender. I also prefer Time and a Word to the Yes Album. I haven't listened to Echoes in a long time, but I would pick Shine over it from memory. Think of Me with Kindness is a wonderful song - the best? Not for me.

My hottest takes off the top of my head:

- I hope this isn't blasphemy but IQ and Galahad don't appeal to me (Not had an exhaustive listen, but I do keep dipping back in)
- Folklore is overrated as a BBT album
- Yessongs version of Fragile tracks >>>>> Fragile
- I prefer Phil Collins era Genesis (with the exception of Selling England), but I prefer Peter Gabriel solo to Collins solo
- Flower Kings' Flower Power should be one disc long and it should be called Garden of Dreams
- Falling into Infinity >>> Six Degrees and Octavarium

My favorite PFM song is a synth pop track from 1984.

Oh, okay. I have no shortage of unpopular opinions when it comes to the music of YES and Van der Graaf Generator. Smile

I agree, I don't think this is a hot take. Big smile
I'm not even sure what a Hot Take is, but one thing I do know is I much prefer Fly from Here over Drama. Thumbs Up

Is ... is that a hot take? Fly from Here was ok but certainly no Drama 2. And despite trying them all a few times, I cannot bring to mind anything from any album after.

Another…

Ambrosia’s “Somewhere I Never Traveled” is a more diverse, progressive album than their first (which was a pretty great album) ...

In the wake of poseidon is more interesting than the one before it.
Larks tongues is the best King Crimson album.
Yes lost their way after Jon Anderson left the band in 2004.
There never really was a prog resurgence (at least not a major one).

^I agree about 'It' and Incantations

Another hot take, The Best song from TFTO is 'The Remembering'

IMHO:

Tales is the second best Yes album, after Relayer. Both are 10/10.
Momentary Lapse of Reason is a good album, but not a great one.
Incantations is indeed 10/10.
'It' is a great closer but only if you pay attention to the lyrics of the whole story arc. Otherwise, it is merely a good closer. Although we all have our favorite songs on the album, you have to take it as a whole to understand what is going on.
