Yeah, she did some very great stuff (and was the master mind behind Nick Mason's wonderful Fictitious Sports). RIP!

I'm quite shocked by this myself. It was only a few days ago I was about to contact him to hear how things were going.

Carla Bley - like Zappa, an amazing composer and reluctant player.  Both turned to hired hands to carry out the "simple complexities" of their arrangements and solos.....neither thought themselves best for playing what they wrotes but both have such a groovy sound.  Carla's "Ida Lumpino" is the de facto melody that pops into my head time and again.....it just comes and goes, no rhyme or reason - RIP Carla.....and Frank.

I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

This is from his Facebook profile. Robin was buried October 13. I'm yet trying to get the date of death.

I run the FB page 'Danish Progressive Rock News' and posted the announcement from his former employer.

His former employer, the library in Taarnby (Denmark), had the following announcement on Oct 17. fine Here's the Google translation:

Local musician Robin Taylor has died.

Our ex-colleague Per Reinholdt Nielsen has sent me this obituary, as a fine obituary for Robin Taylor:

Robin Taylor was a highly opinionated personality and musician who followed his own path. From the 1990s onwards, he created a career in progressive rock with an impressive number of releases on his own label. Robin Taylor slowly and stubbornly expanded his musical universe with impressions from e.g. jazz, electronic music and krautrock. Many of his works received good reviews on international sites for prog rock.

Despite the foreign-sounding surname, Taylor is a Kastrup boy and grew up in the high-rise buildings in Olufsgården. The interest in music came early. At 12, he became a fan of The Beatles and Cream, bought a guitar and started his first orchestra. Robin Taylor quickly switched to bass – because the band was missing a bassist – and from here it went on to play in various local bands that played at schools and Tårnby Gymnasium.

Real momentum in his career came when Robin Taylor got hold of a four-track tape recorder and started creating his own compositions. DR's program Båndbixen presented his music several times. As an autodidact, it was clear that Robin Taylor had his own sound and his own ideas about how the music should be put together.

He often drew inspiration from the many loans of records in the music library and the works were complex and characterized by great complexity. In addition to his creative musical abilities, he also possessed a great knowledge of especially Danish rock and progressive rock.

Robin Taylor was 67 years old.

RIP Angelo Bruschini, guitarist with Massive Attack and previously a number of other Bristol based outfits including the iconic 'Blue Aeroplanes', has died after suffering an aggressive form of lung cancer. Started working with MA in the early/ mid 1990's and appeared on most of their studio lps and live performances and became an integral part of their sound, particularly on the lp, Mezzanine.

RIP Dusty Street (her real name). She was a dj on Sirius XM's deep tracks and also a dj in California and one of the first woman disc jockeys on the West Coast (of the US).

More on Dusty Street:

Fellow KROQ DJ Richard Blade wrote, “Time is a cruel mistress. … It was Dusty who trained me to run the board at KROQ, and trying to emulate her expertise was a tough job. She brought so much of her love of music — particularly Dark Wave like Siouxsie, Bauhaus, and so many others, to the airwaves. In today’s barren terrestrial radio market, there is no one like her. I’ll so miss her voice, her laugh, her caring for animals, our trips to Hawaii together, and our visits when I’d do a gig in Cleveland – where she did her show on SiriusXM and made her home for the past decade. Your talents will not be forgotten. Fly low and avoid the radar, Dusty.”

“Shattered,” wrote Tami Heide, one of the women who later followed in her wake at [KROQ], saying “thank you for all you did for KROQ, and women radio hosts.”

Heide quoted a favorite line of Street’s, which she had said in an interview she once said to her ex-husband: “A good segue is better than sex.

Although it sounds like the perfect radio nom de plume, Dusty Street was, in fact, her birth name. The Palo Alto native said that when she graduated high school in 1964, she received a draft notice, her name having been mistaken for a man’s."

RIP R.R. Shaft is a classic, but I like Shaft in Africa about as much.
