As Steven Wilson explores his new musical direction, regardless of your opinion, which band do you think is continuing the legacy of Porcupine Tree’s golden age (1995-2007)? 

Dominic Sanderson — Impermanence. A brilliant album that showcases exquisite melodies.



AVKRVST — The Approbation. Profundizes on the metal influences of albums like FoaBP.



Deposed King — One Man's Grief. It explores much more intensenly the electronic influences and the production aspects.



Ghost Toast — Shade Without Color. So heavily inspired by Porcupine Tree that I remember reading someone accusing it of being 'stylistically derivative'. Still, a good experience for the fans of this sound.

Riverside seems like the most likely PT clone carrying the torch.

For whatever reason i find PT clones boring.

It's one of those styles that was brilliant the first time around but feels totally disingenuous by its second wave.

Hey, siLLy puPPy, happy to read you, as always. 

I think that both Dominic Sanderson and AVKRVST are very promising and I wait for what they may offer in the future, these two are just their debut albums (as it is the case with Deposed King, but which I believe are a step behind those previous two bands in terms of quality), I'm sure that they will become better at finding their own voices. Remember that Porcupine Tree was almost plagiaring Pink Floyd at first. 



Another Brick in the Wall 1 hour edition. 

I personally don't care much about ID.Entity, I think that the best works by Riverside are well in the past. 

You gave 4 stars to Dominic Sanderson, so you must agree up to a point that Sanderson is at least somewhat interesting.

Tjah, I've never thought of the first two Riverside albums, I know best, as PT clone.

Riverside and PT aren't even on the same page ... I've always seen Riverside as sort of 3rd wave post neo prog rock, whereas PT were occupying a strange niche between experimental art rock and prog (brit) pop (think Lightbulb Sun / Signify / In Absentia).

Bolus, Nosound and Abigail's Ghost come to mind. Not a fan of Bolus and not familiar enough with the other two to really comment other than knowing they have been described as similar to PT.

Pineapple Thief obviously, The Amber Light, Airbag, Gazpacho, 2010s Katatonia sounds very porcupinean. Check this 2022 release also, reminds me of the 90s PT

Another obvious one is Haken's The Mountain although they have gone a lot more metal recently. PT's Deadwing could be a companion album to that (or vice versa).
