I've been in quite the crusade for a while to find an album that sounds like Orchid, given that I truly dislike the rest of Opeth's ouvre.

What I'm specifically looking for: the riffing style, that sort of power metally/trad heavy twin guitar melody work (think, say, the intro of "In Mist...") where both guitars are playing slightly different melodies or harmonies at the same time (as opposed to have one playing melodies and the other doing chords), yet with a certain rock n roll sloppiness to it. Important that there's little to no tremolo picking and the riffs are never chunky or groovy. Also that it has a dry, thin guitar tone. Also, and this is primordial, NO blast beats!

What I'm not looking for: stuff that's also melodic but is heavy on tremolo and blasts (literally any melodic black metal), stuff that is just atmospheric but has nothing on the riffing style (Agalloch or Deafheaven). Also, Morningrise. Just no.

I already know Katatonia, Dark Tranquility, Edge of Sanity, aMORPHIS, Obsequiae, Dreichmere and Eucharist. I need stuff that's closer!

Sorry for being picky, but I wanted to really be specific on what I want. Thank you for your time.

So might already know more than the rest of us,well, at least more than me. LOL

You can check out:
Witherscape (Dan Swan๖ band, maybe his solo album from late 90)
Barren Earth
Perihelion Ship
White Stones

Very specific details to what you want to hear, I do not know whether you will get the sound you specifically asked for. Smile

Sigh's first two albums for the doomy, black metal with classical/symphonic elements

Orphaned Land's first two for the doomy, dark, bleak, melancholic soundscapes with a folky touch

Oh wait forget what I just said. You like Swedeath/Gothenburg Metal loo

El Norra Alila by Orphaned Land is still strong recommendation because the left and right pan are actually different takes of the same guitar part, so it sounds slightly different in both ears, bot so much Sahara in this regard, but what Sahara does is that is has the more traditional Gothenburg ("power metal") sound.

What is wrong with Morningrise? It's very sonically similar to Orchid...

Also you claim not to like Meloblack metal, but Orchid IS meloblack. I understand what you're looking for kind of but it seems inconsistent. Morningrise has that twin lead guitar sound with thin production and heavy/piwer metal influenced riffing. It's THE closest thing to Orchid...

I never claimed to dislike melodic black, but if I'm looking for something that sounds like Orcihd I'm very much NOT looking for melobkack. I mean, you can call it whatever you want, but you can't tell me it sounds like Dissection, Vinterland or Sacramentum.

Morningrise to me sounds like the rest of Opeth's albums, which I extremely dislike. Sorry, I just can't change my mind about it, my ears don't lie.

Thanks for your recommendations, but you seemed to focus more on atmosphere than the specific riffing style I mentioned. Will I find it there?

You will either have to except reccomendations that isn't Orchid 2, but still share similarities - or get no reccomendations at all. That's just how it is.

I mean it'll only take 30 seconds to skim the album on Youtube to see if you like it or not. I appreciate the thanks, but it doesn't seem like you appreciate the effort here, so I won't make any more recs, don't worry.

If you weren't into such specifics, then I would be recommending atmospheric music like In the Woods - Omnio and Ulver, but you are so I won't. Welcome to the forum anyway.
