I'd like to get a bit more into clog prog - so far I'm mostly familiar with Focus (of course), Shocking Blue, Golden Earring, and Earth & Fire.

What other prog or prog-related bands can you recommend I try next? [Preferably from the classic prog era, i.e late 60's to late 70's.]

My favourite is Supersister, which is a Canterbury Sound band.

Thanks Paul - just been catching up on Earth & Fire (well the first 4 albums to be precise) I'd half forgotten them, and had forgotten how good they were - I do love prog (or prog related) with a good female vocalist.

  hello, Paul. how are you?  have you heard Argentinian artist Gustavo Cerati & his song BOCANADA? he samples Focus from MOVING WAVES brilliantly.  he also performed it with full orchestra in Mexico on the album 14 EPISODIOS SINFONICOS. interesting stuff.  great work from you as always. best to you.

No, I haven't, but I'm sure I'd love it, especially when it comes recommended by your good self. I'm also looking forward to listening to all of those classic Dutch prog albums again (starting After Tea), particularly now that I've included Dutch Neo Prog in the listings too. Thumbs Up

AFTER TEA      A Haags-Delft (Dutch ice cream?) groep, After Tea were originally known as the Tee- Set, but not to make a mockery of their crockery, they were notable for being the first Dutch band to start their own record label, fittingly titled. Tee-Set Records. After Tea came along afterwards, and what comes After Tea? Why, sympathy of course, so spare a thought for After Tea's singer Polle Eduard, who was imprisoned briefly on a drugs charge (although being imprisoned on trumped-up drugs charges never did the Rolling Stones career any harm). After Tea's recently unearthed debut album "National Disaster" is really not that bad, being a typical example of Beatlesque Nederbeat of the time. Their third and final album "Jointhouse Blues" delved into Blues Rock territory (no surprise there), before After Tea cleared the dining room table and packed away all of their cutlery and crockery forever. Smile
