Greece's answer to Joe Satriani is very good too, especially if you like Progressive Metal. Thumbs Up

My fave albums are

      Aphrodite’s Child  (Greece)  -  666  (1972)

             P.L.J. Band  (Greece)  -  Armageddon  (1982)

Ciccada  (Geece)  -  A Child In The Mirror  (2010)

             Naxatras  (Greece)  -   Naxatras  (2015)

quality over quantity, and all kind of PopcoRn almost beyond

After Armagedon(the vinyl has one of the best artwork ever!) P.L.J. Band changed their name to "Termites", they started to use Greek lyrics and became one of the greatest rock bands(and my favourite) in Greece!

There are a few other bands of 70's and 80's with Greek lyrics and very nice albums!

So, which albums sung in greek would be worth knowing?

Except Akritas i suggest to you to listen of Kostas Tournas - Aperanta Xorafia

http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BqFLW5FMEM

Tournas and  Logaridis of Akritas was bandmates in a band called "Poll".

http://https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poll_(band)

Another album is Iraklis -Se allous kosmous

http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juniiAIwuoU

I had made a concept prog rock album with Greek lyrics back in 2011. "Gia mia litromeni pishi" or "For a redeemed soul".

http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcCAwdNZAck

If you find time give it a try...Smile

Also check "Termites" (previously as P.L.J. band)

http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7r_Jlkor9tQ

and the best Greek album of the last 50 years(just my opinion)
Katsimiha Bros - Zesta Pota

http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQHd-hdBKYQ

the orchestration of this record done by Giannis Spathas and Nikos Antipas(both of Socrates). They are both passed away...

Hi,

That is quite nice and very enjoyable. It is kind of interesting from a distance, how much the album 666 influenced some stuff ... although I have to admit, that I had never heard anything like it before, either.

This is very nice, indeed.

Many years ago I had written a prog rock album(in Greek).
This is the lyric movie.

Whoever wants can listen to it…

Having listened to and reviewed Akritas' eponymous album recently, I'd recommend that same album too. The songs are sung in Greek, although the sample track below is an instrumental. Smile

Although hes not greek, but YOSSI SASSI (who were in Orphend land in the 2000s) is an amazing prog musicion who fuses a lot of greek music and instruments into his music.

It's all Greek to me, apart from Dead Can Dance, who aren't really Greek at all, but they DO have a lot of Greek influences in their music, and Lisa Gerrard is a pretty mean yangqin player too! Smile
