2023 NBA Playoffs is about to start. I'm hoping for close games. I hope it's not just a 3-pt shooting contest. Anyway... Nuggets beat Wolves
Suns beat Clippers Warriors beat Kings Grizzlies beat Lakers Suns beat Nuggets. Warriors beat Grizzlies. Suns beat Warriors. Bucks beat Heat Cavs beat Knicks 76ers beat Nets Celtics beat Hawks Bucks beat Cavs. Celtics beat 76ers. Bucks beat Cavs and lose to the Suns in The Finals. |

I am long time hoops fan and don't think recall ever seeing a NBA related thread on this site.
Anyway, I can't argue with your predictions. Particularly, with the Warrriors, as I have been a fan since the early 80's. East will follow the seedings and it's hard for me to see any upsets. The West is more volatile. I like the Suns with KD but think the Warrriors could upset should they meet. Lakers with LeBron and AD could upset the Grizz. Warriors avoiding the Suns and getting the Kings was good for them. Bonus of not having to fly for the road games. |

So after a week, only the Sixers with a sweep with Embid out for the last game though Denver has a good chance against the TWolves. A little surprised that the Hawks got a game against the Celtics.
Warriors are down 1-2 but still favored in Vegas. Kings have a lot of firepower. Bucks are in trouble without Giannis.and the Clippers without Kwahi shouldn't win a game against the Suns, but I may favor Denver in round 2 now. |

Hi, Well the Lakers showed they are the Lakers ... and they are playing well, and Lebron took that youngster to school and dropped him off! It looks like that series is over. The Warriors were lucky ... very lucky ... and really, they did not deserve to win, though the big mistake by SC was a problem, and he should have banged the ball of one of the guy's feet instead of calling for a time out they did not have ... and that was 3 points that almost gave the Kings a door, which they were not able to take advantage of. But I think that the Warriors look tired, and might not make it to 7 games. I have not exactly paid attention to the other games, although the Suns are almost done with the Clippers. It figures they would and quickly! I also do not see how Minnesota can stay with the Nuggets. I'm not up on the East Coast yet ... I will when it gets to 4 teams.

So, interesting first round. Milwaukee getting bounced was a shocker and cost Budenholzer his job. Add to that 1 of his brothers died in a car accident right before Game 4. But, Jimmy Butler put on an amazing performance. Maybe one of the top playoff games ever. Unfortunately he got hurt, so it will be a tough series for Miami against the Knicks. Boston is probably the best in the East but going 6 games against the Hawks and dropping the first game to the Sixers is not a good look. They should win the East.
Out West, that was a great Game 7 by Steph Curry. I think Lakers spent all their energy to win Game 1. Still like the Warriors to win. Phoenix has no depth and would need KD and Booker to combine for over 80 every game, like they did last night, to win. I think it will be Denver v. Golden State for the WCF. If Butler is healthy, then Miami v. Boston in the ECF. |

Hi, The Lakers losing game 2 of their series with Golden State is bad ... very bad ... Golden State made the necessary adjustments, and it looked like the Lakers just stood there and waited for things to return to normal ... and in the end, the Lakers got pasted, and the Warriors showed they could stay with the Lakers even if the size and strength favors the Lakers a bit more. If the Warriors win Game 3 today, I think the series is over ... and Lebron was not the issue, but the rest of the Lakers were when they did not show up. But if we have to wait for AD to wake up to score 20 and get 20 rebounds, then I think the Lakers can pull off tonight's game, but that means AD can only play every other game. I don't think the Lakers can win the series like that. The Suns series is a crap shoot in my book. They should tie up the series, but I'm not sure they can steal a game in Denver, unless Durant gets smoking hot and scores 50. So this will probably end up with Denver winning, since they have home court advantage. In the East, I'm not sure that the 76'rs are ready for the Celtics, and if the Celtics can steal the next game, the series is over. I think the 76'rs have the injury bug a wee bit too much to be able to stay with the Celtics who got rested with their first round win.

I can't see the Lakers winning... Even though the Suns are down 2-1, I
can see them coming back and winning it. I think Boston will beat
Philly, and right now, I'm going with Miami.

Surprised that GS and Phoenix lost. I'm rooting for Denver, but
don't mind LA going to The Finals, either, so that should be a good
series. I think Boston will win this and beat Miami. I think Denver is
the most likely to win a title. I just hope everyone from the remaining
teams remain healthy. NBA Draft Lottery is on Wednesday!

^I agree with the above. Disappointed that the Warriors lost, and as much so it was to the Lakers. Rooting for Denver the rest of the way. I do think they are the best team left. Boston should beat the Sixers on Sunday and move on against the Heat but in watching them play, I wouldn't be surprised if they lose.

I'm rooting for Denver, but wouldn't mind if LA won... I also want the Heat to come out from the East, and think the Celtics would be a better match-up, and I guess I like them a little more than the 76ers. I'm tired of the blow-outs, though..

Hi, I have the feeling that this series is going to be brutal for LJ and AD ... if they can cope well, they might be able to steal a game in Denver, but I would not bet that Denver can not steal a game in LA. I haven't looked, but wondered how their series went down this year ... it might give us an idea, although I think that most of those games took place before LA made its adjustments, which got them to the playoffs, as the team no one wanted to meet. I don't think GS played badly, but LA shot better than 50% from the field in that game 6, and I imagine that it is rare that anyone loses a game shooting like that, and GS had to play from behind and I think they rushed things a bit too much, and forgot to play defense and take their shots properly. But maybe the LA defense had a lot to do with that ... with some side folks just tearing up the score board. If those same folks show up for Denver, I don't think that Denver can take it to LA and pull it out, but we'll see!

Hi, I haven't watched a Celtics game in these playoffs. My feeling is leaning towards the fact that both LA and Denver are quite a bit more physical and they may hurt the Celtics, but just like in the old days, it was "smartness" that won the game, and the Celtics had it, instead of just one facet of the game. My thoughts are that the Denver/LA series will be brutal enough as to leave the winning team hurt and tired and not be able to play the Celtics full speed ahead. Interesting set of games coming up ... will see you all next week on these games!

My poor sixers got slaughtered last night and are done. :(
I'm a big fan of Steph Curry though so I'm routing for the warriors for the rest of this. Edited by AFlowerKingCrimson - May 15 2023 at 14:39 |
