I’m really digging Weather Report with the “Heavy Weather” album. I think it is the best Jazz fusion album I’ve ever heard.

But is it Jazz-Rock? - Even it doesn't have to matter that much. Edited by David_D - January 31 2023 at 11:47 |

quality over quantity, and all kind of PopcoRn almost beyond

I've been very fond of some Jazz-Rock albums from about the very beginning of my digging music in the first half of the '70s, and most notably Birds of Fire, RtF's Where Have I Known...and Osibisa. But it was not until the '00s that I became interested in Jazz-Rock from many different countries around the world which I in return have had very much pleasure of ever since. Excellent! Sounds as if we have walked the same path! Of course, RtF led to my lifelong appreciation & love for the music by Al Dimeola, Stanley Clarke etc. Here's a taste of Chicagoland's own Fareed Haque playing some M. Orchestra with the California Guitar Trio! Fareed turns on the burners about 2:40! Edited by cstack3 - February 02 2023 at 09:51 |

Yeah David. You may have a point. I think it may just be straight Jazz fusion. Very very accessible Jazz fusion. |

There is only really one and that is Weather Report. Heavy Weather is a masterpiece of an album, same with Mysterious Traveller and Black Market. It is honestly a shame how underrated they are on the archives, they are on the same pedestal as bands like Santana and Mahavishnu Orchestra for me.

Quite a thin line between jazz rock and fusion. This post may confuse you more. 😅

I forgot a couple of artists from the States:
I tend to think of blazing guitar-driven fusion as Jazz Rock, but there may be others that qualify, such as Paul Winter Consort, Oregon (the band) etc. |

I have hundreds of Jazz-Rock favourites, but I can't think of any Jazz Fusion I really like, not unless you count Jan Hammer as Jazz Fusion.
