How come there’s threads for IQ/Marillion but. There’s no threads for the other incredible bands from the same era like Twelfth Night and Pallas it’s a mystery to me.

You can create threads about those bands, start discussions. I have started plenty of neo-prog threads and polls, even got mocked for it. But hey, it's neo-prog, not a popular subgenre on the PA forums.

IQ is one of those bands that can make a modern day epic that could be considered a basis to base other epics off of. They are just so good.

Just curious.....is there a thread where PA ranks all the neo-prog bands and discusses them all?

Not that I know of, but Ranker has an excellent list of the top Neo Prog bands, although it's debateable whether some of the bands on the list are really Neo Prog, but then again, we've had endless debates here about what is and what isn't Neo Prog. IQ are at the very top for me. Have close to 30 CDs including dvd and Blu ray from them.
I love just about everything they’ve ever done. Even the Menal years aren’t bad. |

^ indeed yep the Menel albums are good, Nomzamo could have been one of their best but for the plastic eighties production. Some great tracks (Human Nature, No Love Lost and the title track especially) and Menel has always been a talented wordsmith.

^ Amen Richard.
Agree whole heartedly, but I actually enjoy that 80’s production sound. Nomzamo sounds really good on excellent HIFI equipment. Terrific bass and dynamics. Can’t hate it. |

^ I discovered IQ with The Wake, which I found wonderful. Then, Nomzamo was a big change, but I liked that album too, very much. More rock than prog, maybe, but still a great album.

^^ what both you gentlemen have said really showcases just how much quality IQ have at any given era or singer.
No doubt. A special band. I have high hopes that IQ will be remembered even another 40 years from now. I’ll be 83 and still spinning IQ. I’m sure of it. Wish I could bookmark this post for 40 years from now. ;) |

I'm not the biggest IQ fan, but I still really appreciate their music. Dark Matter is a superb album.

I've just bought the MP3 of the 2020 remix of Frequency. I go on a lot about that album but for me Andy Edwards elevated the band in their later period ansd that stands out even above the well loved The Road Of Bones and Dark Matter. Of course they are remarkably consistent band over the last 30 years.
