One of the most celebrate new bands from England, BCNR were formed in 2018 in Cambridgeshire and have since become such a hit with their combination of folky, poppy-edged tunes with farfetched experimentation dressed in post rock garment. A sextet, consisting of a bassist, a guitar player, a drummer, a violinist, a keyboard player, and a sax player, it is also worthy to mention that four of the six band members sing.
Their first release is 2021's 'For the First Time', one of the champion releases of the year, ending quite high on too many professional and fan-made lists.
Their second album came out this February and is titled 'Ants From Up There'. I can only say that the reception for this one has been absolutely insane and is already considered a classic.
Personally, I do enjoy what BC,NR are doing, I think they are up for great things and I can definitely see them on PA. Not to mention that their addition will certainly bring more people to the website that would want to write reviews or just go on and explore what else is on here.

Some useful links concerning the band:

I was wondering when someone would suggest them. I wish I liked them more than I did but I think they deserve a place here.

Would you be willing to write a proper bio if they're cleared for addition?

From the vibrant and thriving post punk scene in England’s southeast, I far prefer Squid and black midi - who released two of my absolute favourite albums last year. Black Country, New Road also released one of my favourite albums last year, but they don’t hit me as hard as the other two aforementioned bands.

Vaguely related, has anyone heard Fontaines DC’s album from this year? The band has pretty much relocated to London (maybe they need to be renamed Fontaines LDN? 😜), and the sound of their music has changed accordingly. Where they once set out to write post punk music that evoked and celebrated Dublin, they are now closer to the sounds of the post punk bands of England’s Soitheast.

They played a wonderful set on Glastonbury, that was easily one of my favourite of the post punk bands that played the festival. Even if I like black midi better in the studio, they were possibly the least impressive live, which kind of shocked me. (Even more shocking is that the post punk band I’ve never really liked - Idles - put on possibly the most impressive set.)

That's funny, I looked these guys up on PA yesterday evening only to find they weren't on PA. Was kind of thinking of suggesting them myself, but that won't be necessary anymore I see.

I like BCNR a lot, will have to see how they progress with the main man gone. They say they're going to continue. Squid are also excellent, neither match black midi for me personally.

I have the previous Fontaines DC album so will need to check out the new one.
