How about some (more) lyrics from the 80's "counterculture"

Bauhaus - "Small Talk Stinks"

Small talk stinks
See the young man in his new gown
Talking up to his bouffant drag
He say he loves you with flowers
Something that he's never had
A sentence should be like a serpent
Quick with a sting in its tail
String me a line that has meaning and depth
There's no small talk with walky talkies
Small talk stinks
I said it stinks
(from the album In the Flat Field (1980))

And talking about the 80's counterculture, I'd like to mention the very fine compilation of
the American Punk
Various artists (USA)  -  Let them eat Jellybeans! 17 Extracts from Americas
                                                                         darker Side  (1981)

Something else, which can be good to mention about the non-Prog 80's, is the the very informative book
Our band could be your life. Scenes from the American Indie Underground 1981-1991 (2001)
by Michael Azerrad - even the author's description of large part of the bands portrayed
isn't particularly flattering, not least concerning Black Flag and Henry Rollins. Of other bands
profiled, let me mention Sonic Youth, Fugazi, Hüsker Dü, Butthole Surfers and Mission of Burma.

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

These two albums are also some of those I've kept from my 80's which in fact has been the only decade when I was most into mainstream Rock and some Pop-Rock.

Take me down, to the underground
Won't you take me down, to the underground
Why oh why, there is no light
And if I can't sleep, can you hold my life

It's been nice! Covid restrictions have finally been getting lifted out here, so I'm able to enjoy more of the country. For instance, just went to Hiroshima last weekend for a strawberry-picking event, and the mall I visited later that day had a killer music store Smile Sometimes I wish I got to Japan now instead of back in 2020 when everything was in lockdown, because I don't have much time left here Cry
