This thread is mainly aimed at collectors, and by "great classics" I mean albums

that are very high rated by really many people

How old they must be, it's up to oneself to decide.

Mine are:

Camel   -  The Snow Goose  (1975)

Caravan   -  In The Land of Grey and Pink  (1971)

Emersom, Lake & Palmer Emerson, Lake & Palmer  (1970)

            Emersom, Lake & Palmer  -  Tarkus  (1971)

            Genesis  -  Nursery Cryme  (1971)

Genesis  -  Selling England by the Pound  (1973)

Gentle Giant  -  Acquiring the Taste  (1971)

            Jethro Tull  -  Aqualung  (1971)

            Khan  -  Space Shanty  (1972)

King Crimson  -  Larks’ Tongues in Aspic  (1973)

            King Crimson  -  Red  (1974)

           Mike Oldfield  -  Ommadawn   (1975)

Pink Floyd  -  The Dark Side of the Moon  (1973)

Pink Floyd  -  Wish You Were Here  (1975)

           Renaissance  -  Renaissance  (1969)

Van der Graaf Generator  - H to He Who Am the Only One (1970)

Van der Graaf Generator  -  Godbluff   (1975)

Rick Wakeman  -  The Six Wives of Henry VIII   (1973)

Yes   -  The Yes Album  (1971)

Yes  -  Close to the Edge  (1972)

Some additional:

           Emersom, Lake & Palmer  -  Trilogy  (1972)

          Genesis  -  Foxtrot  (1972)

           Marillion  -  Script For A Jester’s Tear  (1983)

Strawbs  -  Grave New World  (1972)

And I hope, you'll enjoy it! Smile

For anyone who's not familiar with it, I can certainly recommend the book Rocking the Classics.

English Progressive Rock and the Counterculture . Oxford University Press 1997 by Edward Macan,

which is generally considered to be the very best book written about Progressive Rock so far.

it will confuse people. For some prog classics ended in 1975, others will say '76, and then others  '77.
I say '79. So there you go. LOL

That's why it's up to oneself to decide, so even 80's can be included. Tongue

Your choice, but the OP says: "by "great classics" I mean albums that are very high rated by really many people".

I am really glad to see this album listed among other Prog classics. It would definitely make my Top 35.

Good idea, and RYM can be very useful, as well.
