Like the Avant & related polls I just did I thought I'd also do 5 polls of six of my top 30 RPI albums.
I had so much fun coming up with this list a few years ago, I'm just into so many of these records. Even the album covers make me smile, so many classics like the Alphataurus one here which is my all time favourite when you unfold it to that panoramic view. And they are my pick here but it's really close with Nuova Era. I would be surprised if Banco doesn't pull this out. What's your favourite of my favourites?

Another excellent selection in this sub. Close call all around, but I must vote for Area, this is my favorite album by them.

Are you kidding, my pleasure. I almost included it in my Jazz list but the vocals and more definitely make this an RPI record. The drumming is out of this world.

I spun these over the last several days and besides the two I mentioned in the intro Banco and Area stood out. I mean who ever sounded like Area? So unique with Stratos just adding to that with his vocals. Love the live album I have by them.

If you had included any of the first three Banco del Mutuo Soccorso albums, they would have been in the running for me. I would have been torn between choosing between Area, A&M or Banco. Thankfully, you made my choice easier by including Banco as the album, and that (like PFM’s English albums) holds no interest nor appeal for me.

So, it was between Area and A&M, and Furio Chirico tips the balance in favour of the latter. What a drummer!

Absolutely true. They really have no peer in that regard. All the albums of the 'classic' period are just that...complete classics.

I hate not to vote for Banco or Le Orme, but Area gets my vote on this one.

Le Orme. For me, Contrappunti is the last, great classic album by the band. I never tire of it.

A list of great albums, all, especially those first three. Though Area is my favorite "RPI" band (though, like Arti e Mestieri, I consider them more of a Jazz-Rock Fusion band), Arbeit Macht Frei is not my favorite album of theirs (Crac! is), so I voted for Tilt - Immagini Per Un Orecchio--an extraordinary album.

Can't wait for the next five, John!

John, I hope you mean Banco's debut, "Banco del Mutuo Soccorso" (1972). There are 2 more albums, entitled "Banco", released in 1975 and 1983.

Alphataurus. Area is a very close second (still need to buy this one) followed by Le Orme.

Thanks Drew!
One of the hardest things doing these sub genre lists is knowing what to include and what to exclude. So many albums have a combination of styles. Anyway I've just gone with what I'm comfortable with. And I must admit that the "Tilt" record would fit on my Jazz related or RPI lists and I'd be happy either way.

So many great singers on this poll but does any one let it out like the Alphataurus vocalist? He holds nothing back.

Lol, Banco for me this time. All of the albums are gold even though I can't get into Area and Alphataurus.
