Bombastic means overpowering. It can refer to pompous speech, writing or music.

Or it can simply mean very loud and too much for the feint of heart.

I often use the term especially in reference to metal and other extreme forms of music.

I love bombast.

Guilty as charged! I've often used words like "bombastic" and "pompous" to describe prog albums in some of my past reviews, although they were intended to be positive adjectives. Embarrassed

Lol Paul, try fitting in a word like rodomontade next time you review... :)  ie. like It is lavish, pure rodomontade, sentimental and florid.  j/k
