I like all of those bands you mentioned, although I haven't heard of Ruphus before, so I'll have to check them out. Thumbs Up

New Born Day is probably their best. It's on YouTube and Spotify. They morphed into a more funky style but still great stuff. They reunited briefly with the original lineup but didn't put out any albums since '79.

Hi,

I'm not sure she could give a damn about the asexual world of "prog rock"...

Tell that to all the Rush fans who couldn't give a damn about her sexy ass. LOL  It didn't help her gain fans in the prog world and might have even resulted in her not being taken seriously.

Marie Antoinette sounds far better live than the studio original.

Air Cut is a great album.

I once tried to get Derren Reddick to play Metamorphosis on his Planet Rock prog show but predictably he chose to play Elfin Boy instead . No wonder that show is now defunct.

North Star is also a really a good album. The first three CA albums are dreadfully produced but worth checking out Curved Air Live (recorded at Bristol Uni in 1974) and the Beat club performance from around 1971-2 is also very good.

BTW Francis Monkman resurrected the track Vivaldi for the Sky 2 double album release of 1980. I love that version more than the original CA version.

I'm planning to feature the solo albums of Sonja Kristina, Francis Monkman and Darryl Way on this thread too, just as soon as I've added their albums to my prog playlists on YouTube. Thumbs Up

Awesome. I'm loving this thread, but Curved Air is probably my favorite underlooked prog-rock band.

I think you'll enjoy Sonja Kristina's version of the Yessong, "Soon", which is coming soon on The Curved Air Family Album. Smile

^ I love that song too. It reminds me of Come Away Melinda more or less by Uriah Heep, although it was originally a hit for female singer Barry St. John in 1965. Smile
