Seriously? It has to be Gandalf's Fist. What were they thinking with that one?

Van der Graaf Generator is a great name, definitely not the worst. The name fits in very well with their music. It is some device which accumulates electric charge, creating tensions up to 5 MV or more.

I do feel that bands should avoid anything connected to LOTR, it's just perpetuating the goblins and wizards view of prog that people have. Isildur's Bane is another one. And Marillion, although I'm guessing some people don't realise that.

My pet hate is bands that name themselves after well-known prog albums or songs, I mean, there's even a prog band called Supper's Ready ffs. Unless you're a tribute band then think of your own name.

These names sound cool to me, I never really connected them to LOTR. Maybe it' just me.

I have that excellent Gandalf album in my CD collection, and there's also a prolific New Age artist called Gandalf too.

Wait, there is a band called Supper's Ready and they are NOT a cover band? Well, that's sad...

Samurai of Prog is an awful name. And I guess what stops me from listening to this guy's music.

There's a French band called Abacab. They don't sound like Genesis though. There was a band from Israel (if I remember right) called Trespass, but they sounded like ELP. |

Exactly. There's one in PA and they don't appear to be a tribute.

A-ha, so there really IS a Genesis tribute band called Supper's Ready, and they're a spaghettified version of Genesis from Italy.
