My pick would be more along the lines of Birth Control or perhaps any band with Orchestra in the title, and that includes Electric Light Orchestra.

Birth Control sounds like the name of some extreme metal band. I like the ELO name, it's fine by me.

Thanks! I never knew the Scottish singer's name was Shirley Manson, even though I have three albums of Garbage, and you're right, the band are much better than the trashy name implies. After all, they recorded the theme to a Bond movie. Garbage - The World is Not Enough |

Hi, What is strange is that at the time a "can" was a very large amount of grass that you smoked ... and this group was not about drugs at all ... and I think they did it on purpose.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Frumpy is an awful name for a band IMHO. Maybe it communicates something different in their native German, but in England it means an unattractive woman. A lot of proggers think the 1976 album by Automatic Fine Tuning is pretty good, and hopefully the music (which I've not heard) is better than the dull and uninspiring band name.
For non-prog I've always thought the band Noel Redding formed after leaving the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Fat Mattress was quite spectacularly bad. And the Naplam Death frontman Lee Dorrian was in a group called Septic Tank - I mean really! |

Frumpy may have taken their name from their singer, Inga Rumpf, although she's definitely not frumpy. |

Frumpy is actually a really good band, with the excellent Inga Rumpf on vocals. I don't know what Frumpy means in German (I could google it and see if it means anything). Maybe it is an English word. Don't mind the name. Fat Mattress sounds cool. Septic Tank?! Also grind band?

I remember the British comedy trio the Goodies did a spoof music paper report on ELP continually splitting and reforming due to musical differences, first as Lake, Emerson and Palmer, then Palmer, Emerson and Lake, and eventually Lemerpal, Aker and Son.

Fresh Maggots is probably the worst name for a Prog Folk band, although thankfully, the grubby name is not a reflection of their music.

The so-called Post Rock/Math Rock sub genre would have monopolized the Razzies here, no contest: All Will be Quiet And So I Watch You From Afar As the Poets Affirm Beaten By Them Celestial Wolves Empty Solos Echo War From Above In the Mountain Giraffes? Giraffes! I Am Waiting For You Last Summer Let Airplanes Circle Overhead Lo There Do I See My Brother The Sea Like Lead Souls Vibrating in the Universe Sweep the Leg Johnny Tangled Thoughts of Leaving You Already Know These might all be mighty fine bands worthy of anyone's time but someone needs to slay that post modern conceit that opportunistic nihilism is a social construct y'all. |

Another band I haven't heard of, will have to check them since they have a hot vocalist (not hotter than Akerfeldt but still)

Yeah with Frumpy I was commenting on their name, not the quality of their music! I think Septic Tank were a bit punkish. I did hear one of their tracks and funnily enough given their name it sounded at one point as though the lead singer was taking a large and painful dump.
