No, I haven't sen it, and sorry to change the subject, but:
Seven shots in the back? Who trains these people? Who on Earth thinks: OK, I've fired 5 or 6, but a couple more can't do any harm, surely. Just to make sure. Shame if the other rounds went to waste.

My post was a joke. The Republicans are basically saying the kind of stuff that Saturday Night Live would make fun of them for saying. i.e. Donald has done a wonderful job defeating the Coronavirus....he has united Americans....etc....great comedy material.

Larry Kudlow talking about covid in past tense...as if it's gone. One wonders why then could the Republicans not hold the convention in a stadium with packed crowds if covid is over.

I am watching the reports from the RNC with rising horror. the most outrageous lies are being blatantly told by the Republicans; there is nothing they won't stoop down to, including massively rigging the upcoming election. the RNC very much reminds of an NSDAP-Parteitag. and the worst thing is that it appears to work; Trump's poll numbers are on the rise again.
at the same time we again have the police shooting a black man, seven times in the back in the presence of his children, and a 17 year old white vigilant who feels he has to help defending America by shooting people in the streets.
and all the while there is an out-of-control pandemic that is even made worse by the latest orders to the CDC.
what we are currently watching is a Republican coup in slow motion. I am not surprised by this at all; I predicted something like this would happen months ago. what I did not expect is the way the coup is being executed

If anything Trump is not Christ but the Antichrist. Let me quote 2 Thessalonians 2:1–4:
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, that
ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor
by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.Let
no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except
there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the
son of perdition;who
opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is
worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing
himself that he is God.

Apparently the DNC drew bigger TV numbers than the RNC. I think you can thank Kamala for that. Personally I think its great seeing some good looking youth among the other three dinosaurs. I'm old too, so I can say that.

2024 could very likely be Kamala vs Marco Rubio.

Rubio??? I doubt that John...
how much appeal to 'Trump voter' do you think Rubio will have.. nadda.. zippo..zero.. and while Trump may not be President.. he will still be the leader of that party. Be it from Trump Tower.. or a jail cell.
Unlike Democratis... who love their Senatorial candidates.. I suspect it will be a governor as they they tend to prefer. As to who it might be? Zero clue..likely someone not on the radar today... but one could shoot shotgun sized holes through the notions of some. Rubio being a prime .. a moderate on immigration?? Not happening in the current Repubican Party. It isn't the establishment who selects smart (ie electable.. appealing to moderates) choices nominees (Q-Anon anyone)
it is their batsh*t crazy base... and after 2020 (and 2022) as some have noted.. most remaining moderate Republicans will be gone.. ouf of power..retired out of disgust.. or voted out... leaving the far right in greater control of that party.
the inmates are now truly running that asylum...
another great article this week on that.. explaining why this political realignment we are seeing is not going to be temporary.. but a long term one. Much as white working class were lost to Democrats... suburbanites and Women are gone to the Republicans. It isn't just Trump... he is merely a symptom.. the cancer will remain after he leaves center stage.

^ I dunno Micky, I probably know more republicans than you do. Lots and lots of them do not like trump and what he stands for and they are eager to take their party back from the trumpateers.
I'm not particularly a Rubio fan, but he is popular with those that would like to get trump out of the way. It will be interesting to see what happens to that party after the election, but I would not assume that all repubs are ignorant trumpateers, because many are not.
Many repubs are playing along with trump because they thought he could get things done for them. If he loses this election, and especially if they lose the senate, you can expect a lot of the repub establishment to want to cleanse the party of his nonsense.

1/3 play along, but will turn on him if he fails - Graham, Paul, Rubio, Cruz etc
1/3 trumpateers - rednecks with loud pickups, anti new world order tin foil hat kybd warriors and angry old retired bigots.

hmmm... time will tell but I think you are off there John... significantly off...
after 4 years of Trump we have seen how much drop off in his support... significant in terms of his electoral chances (like fatal)... perhaps 5 points.. but not a great deal big picture... no where NEAR that 1/3 you estimate. And that drop off in support are not Kasich.. Flake types... but in women and suburbanites. .and they are largely not 'disliking Trump' but turned their back on a Party that is completely out of touch with them and what they care about and does not represent them.. in body.. or deed. Healthcare 2017... that was straw that broke their back as far as supporting Republicans.. read that.. not Trump.. but the whole goddamned Party.
They aren't protesting Trump.. they've left the party.. and likely for decades for as we know.. once a party loses a demographic (see white working class) they are not mere protests but long term propositions for it takes a lot to change a demographics long held voting preferences. Ie.. they aren't spur of the moment ..reacations if you will. Women and suburbanites had been leaking from the GOP for years.. under Trump it became a flood and the political implications of that will be as profound as they were when a similar reralignment happened some 40 years ago.
again you are phrasing this in terms of 'TRUMP' but it isn't him that is the problem that the party faces.. that the Graham, Paul, Rubio and Cruz's face... it is that Trump tapped into a anger, hatred and fear that is not a faction of that party.. it is large majority of it.
quite simply John.. you are talking politicians.. and how they line out.. that is not the same.. nor anywhere close to where their voters are. That is who selects candidates in primaries and that is overwelmingly 'Trumpateer' as you call it. And their is ample proof of that in the numbers and what we have seen happening. You mention knowing a few Republicans.. great.. but this larger than that...
I'd go with a more 80-20 composition of the GOP base today.. moderates are abandoning the party. 80'20 Trumpateer to play along types..
