Bit of a risky pick but less so than Karen Bass with her Castro-love or Susan Rice. Understand that I personally don't think having once admired Castro disqualifies you but if that's the way voters think, what do you do. I am not even talking Trump supporters, anybody remember Chris Matthews' unhinged dystopian rant about how he would get hanged at Central Park in trying to oppose a future Sanders communist regime?
Which is also why I deem Kamala a tad risky. The coastal politics seem to have diverged a great deal from the swing states. This is not a historical trend. It's not so long ago that Bloomberg was the NYC mayor or Arnold was the California Governor (followed by Jerry Brown). I am not sure Kamala's politics are radically different from Brown but she positioned herself as far more to the Left to pick up votes in the Primary. That could come back to bite. Also why Gretchen Whitmer or Val Demings would have been more interesting picks, making it even harder for the 'Biden controlled by the loony left' accusation to stick. Still, Kamala was a trigger happy AG and if ever there was a time to play that up, it's now. The same "proud of my record" defence that fell flat against Tulsi's attacks in the debate will serve Kamala well now.

Eh, Biden could have picked a moderate republican and trump would still attack him as being the next coming of Castro.

It's not about what Trump would say but whether it can stick. The polling shows that so far it hasn't and Harris will bolster that perception, that Trump's attacks are little more than scare tactics. Can't say that about Karen Bass.

Maybe. But if you are of that ilk, whatever he says always sticks. I think we are past the point of coherent arguments making any difference. That said, I agree it would be easier with Bass.
I am curious to see how many of the also rans for veep wind up in cabinet positions (or at least working somewhere in the Biden administration (assuming there is a Biden administration, of course).

Yep, she's a good choice, I'm happy with that decision. They'll make a good team.

Should have been Susan Rice. Or Bernie sanders. This is coming from a trump supporter btw. Harris ATTACKED Biden during the debates. I find it weird that he would reward that. He should have backtracked on choosing a POC women and had Sanders as VP.

I could not, in good conscience, pass by on this post. In the age of Trump, slamming and degrading members of your own party has become the norm. Recall Trump slamming Rubio, Jeb Bush, Graham, etc., etc., while he was running for the primary? He even said that Ted Cruz's father helped kill JFK, or words to that effect. Now they all kiss his ass. So, Biden's attack on Harris is small potatoes compared to anything that Trump said against his rivals. Why do you Trump supporters have such selective memories? Is it a way to support Trump without cringing?

^Not only that but I can't believe a real Trump supporter would think Bernie Sanders( who most would probably call a communist) is the best option for vp for Joe Biden.

Unless they think it would be best choice for a sure loss.

I'm trying to figure out why someone would want four more years of chaos and disaster, and no, I'm not a democrat. The repubs had a chance to nominate a real leader, but they went with the popular TV star instead. I do want to thank trump for broadcasting his ignorance about covid early on, it gave me a chance to sell off a lot of stocks before the big crash.

Exactly. I thought of that also. I think that would be the case if they want them to lose and they probably would. Lol.

Who's to say? One of the reasons that Hilary lost in 2016 was that Bernie's backers did not support her...a second reason was that the African American population wasn't as excited to vote for her as they were for Barack. The selection of Harris will likely motivate many African Americans to vote for Biden and her. It is likely that many would have voted for Biden either way, but on the other hand, there would likely be many who stayed home like they did in 2016 because they weren't excited about Biden. The question is will Bernie's backers feel motivated to vote for a Biden/Harris ticket? Ultimately, no matter who the VP was going to be, the ultimate motivation is to vote against Trump, so it may really have very little impact either way.
Personally, I am still in the crowd that can't believe that in a population of 328 million people, Trump and Biden are really the best that we can come up with.

^ They aren't. William Weld vs Elizabeth Warren would have been much better.

There's a big difference between better and most likely to win. A lot of people don't know what their best interest is and vote for candidates who pay lip service but are more interested in appeasing big corporations and the wealthy than they are the average middle class worker. You could say that both democrats and republicans do that to one degree or another and you probably wouldn't be wrong. Unfortunately most will see this election as another case of voting for the lesser evil.

And then Trump talks about "the terrible things she said about Biden". Really? That's like Paul McCartney calling Paul Simon "a sellout".

Have you also wondered what future presidencies are going to look like? I mean, it can’t go back to how it was before Trump because a large portion of any president’s actions is based on precedents. So whatever Trump did during his time and got away with is now permissible for anyone following him in office as he or she can point to a precedent set by him; undermining institutions, installing stooges etc. the list goes on. This is precedent now. Imagine a President Jeff Bezos.
Will some party will have to sit down and rewrite a list of explicitly what a president can and can’t do, and (apart from the fact that we’re seeing that this doesn’t work re even the constitution) thereby probably making the office more restrictive than it ever has been before. Or does everyone from now on just rely on the hope that the sitting president will be a good boy (or girl) and not use all the options now open to him (or her)?

I've heard that trope used by conservatives before in an attempt to denigrate liberals and "the left." It doesn't apply to conservatives because they all ate themselves a long time ago. They are basically all just zombies at this point.
