which is your least favorite of them? my vote goes to "The Yes Album", by the way; I never warmed up to it

Relayer is The Yes Album that's the least favourite of mine by a Fragile margin, although Time and a Word has it that's it's Close to the Edge of being the most popular album amongst Yes fans. Smile

TYA is by light years the warmest Yes album (and TFTO being the coldest, IMHO)

Best to worst:

1) The Yes Album (despite the stupid title)
2) Relayer
Bit of a gap
3) Close to the Edge
Bit of a gap
4) Fragile
Very, very large gap
5) TFTO (I know it's not in the poll, but that's where I'd put this pile of pretentious, overblown junk)
6) Time and a Word
7) Yes

 I voted for the Yes Album as well. It is one of those releases where the quality of the music is high, but the quality of the recording is low. Yes, the sound is crisp and clean (except for Clap which sounds like it was recorded in an aluminum culvert) but it is also sterile and lifeless. I much prefer the more robust sound of Yessongs for those classics. Coming up second is Time and a Word with its misplaced orchestrations (although I like the music).

The Yes Album for me. As Progosopher says the material is great but the dull production ruins a lot of it and the songs seem drained of energy. Yours Is No Disgrace, I've Seen All Good People and Starship Trooper are all much more ballsy on Yessongs. Perpetual Change is the only one that doesn't get smoked by the live version with the the drum solo letting it down on Yessongs. I love the first two Yes albums and play them as much as any of the 'classic' era records.

I think it's some of their best material. The live versions of Starship Trooper and Yours Is No Disgrace would always be in my Yes Top 10.

if Going for the One would have been an option that would have got my vote... by far least favorite classic Yes album.. only one song rocked my world and it was better done on the live Yesshows where Squire blew the studio version to atomic dust man...

of the options..

I guess Time and Word but that is sort of like asking which is your least favorite between smoking brunettes, airheaded blonds or bat sh*t crazy redheads. They all rule...

I like the live versions of the songs from "The Yes Album", but the studio album just doesn't flow very well. and I can definitely live without "Clap"

I actually don't know the debut, don't like Time and a Word a lot, but find the Yes Album quite enjoyable, along with the rest of the list.

I'm voting "Time and a Word."  I agree with the late Peter Banks, the orchestration goofs up some neat songs.  
The debut has some really strong material that I enjoy to this day!  Yes album remains a classic, I still enjoy it from time to time.

Well, it's one of the first two. They're alright but pale in comparison to what came after.

It's pretty close since they're virtually at the same level, I probably prefer the debut if I have to choose, so Time and a Word it is.

Not sure why time and a word gets such a bad rap. The strings never bothered me and it's a big step towards where they wanted to go although admittedly not quite there yet.
