Welcome! And yes, SGM has a small following here. Seek out those who wear the Sacred Pan upon their heads, and you shall meet like-minded folk! Edited by Mascodagama - March 02 2020 at 02:23 |

Soldato of the Pan Head Mafia. We'll make you an offer you can't listen to.

Yup, I'm a SGM fan as you can tell from the pan related headgear. Never got the chance to see them but have seen Free Salamander Exhibit & Carla's post-SGM band Rabbit Rabbit.

I'm a definite a SGM fan along with the other connected bands like "Idiot Flesh", "Free Salamander Exhibit", "Faun Fables", "Charming Hostess" and all of Nils Frykdahl's projects.
....and I'm a fellow pan head (see pic below)

TC - are you familiar with the many Carla Kihlstedt related bands? Rabbit Rabbit Radio, Book Of Knots, Cosa Brava, Tin Hat?

^Whoa! I was sure you were an early adopter.
I had the pleasure of seeing Idiot Flesh live about a dozen times. Can't believe that was ~25 years ago. |

No greater entertainment value than a $4 Idiot Flesh show. They were utterly amazing.

Someone here said listening to avant was like throwing a set of pans down a flight of stairs (or something similar) since then we've adopted it as the required headgear of the avant lover.

By the time I discovered them their albums were difficult and expensive to get hold of. |

Funnily enough, I just got into them (well, for 4 months at least). They (well, technically Frank Zappa) got me into Avant Garde music/compositions

Combined PA memes. The "tossing cutlery down a stairwell" part came from Dean's interpretation of RIO/Avant, not sure if some or all. "The Panheads have taken over PA" was a Barney rant because not enough people were gushing over The Tangent. |
