Actually, I fully believe that Travesty of Thought has recruited quite the younger audience that either has been diverted from nu-metal or used to listen to a lot of nu-metal and is starting to mature.

Fan sites actually tell fans to go and post reviews of the album.  If you read the reviews, you can tell they are written by younger people...(not sure the age of most people here).

I still think that the first minutes of the epic are filler (until the slide guitar solo blends into the main theme). What do you think about that part?

Then after Octavarium is released, people listened to it one time through, decided that since it doesn't blow as much as Train of Thought, it is their crowning achievement. Absurd.

I say: listen to it 5 times, rest for a week, listen to it twice more, write a rough draft of a review on paper, proof read it, make corrections, rest for two more days, listen to it once more, revise draft once more than send it to a friend and have him/her OK it, then post it. this process will save everyone's time, except the reviewer.

That's exactly how I write my reviews

My first review is due out in summer of 2006. I'm looking forward on sharing my thougts with you guys. And hearing your opinions of my review.

Album I'm reviewing is The Very Best Of Styx

...could you imagine having to go through all that to write a stinkin review. How naff.

Maybe their fan base is small then

My mathematics from another thred was faulty... i thought that when this Sunday is over DT's Octavarium would be at 9th place in the top 100... well the day isn't over but i hope the ones who rate it over and over and over will stopp... or else this will be unbeatable.

Octavarium = The name sounds like a pill that'll cure pain, but the thing is that the pain is growing...

WRONG!

(Roger just kissed and made up with Dave. FLOYD is playing Live 8, so can be considered as 'currently active'. FLOYD has more fans than DT I hope)

They have the largest fan base of all the currently active bands ... and they are controversial, so all the others who hate them feel the need to bash them or warn the others about them. It will be interesting to see how their average rating changes when those who give new albums some time to sink in write their reviews (me, for example). So far I don't really think that it's a masterpiece ... kind of stuck between 4 and 5 stars.

I never have listened to Dream Theatre, but I am surprised to see how many reviews are still being written for their "Octavarium" album. In a short time, 133 reviews until now! Maybe this is a "new record" in Progarchives for any album. Is this true?
