With so many old threads locked, thought I'd start a new one about my favourite band!

Anyone else going to see them tomorrow night?

And excited about the new album?

Exciting times.....

Well, have a great time tomorrow. Wish I could join you, but could not really justify a trip to London for a gig on my own. I spend enough time away with work as it is.

I am thoroughly looking forward to the new album. The band have been on top form with the past few releases.

It's a long time since I've been to a IQ gig. I've been in total about 4 times , the first time at the Astoria (think it was the basement part) to see them do the last full performance of Subterannea. I remember just watching Mike Holmes for almost the whole gig he was so good. They did an unplanned and not well rehearsed version of Gateway. The weirdest thing happened a while after when I had a delivery from Royal Mail and the guy noticed my CD collection included IQ and he also happened to be at the same gig. What were the chances?!
I've just got to try and sort another gig but I'm already booked to see The Flower Kings in London in December so I may have to wait again as that's generally the time they do a live gig or 2.
BTW I love their Christmas album. I can happily listen to that damn thing all year round it's so bloody good!!

I've seen IQ at least twice. Once I was with you and Simon Godfrey. Can you remember the year and the venue? Seems so long ago now!
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Yes I was thinking about. I remember that Andy Edwards was in the band and he only played on the Frequency album which was released in 2009. So it was around that time.

It was central London and the small venue close to the Astoria. I remember we popped into MacDonalds!

later on I did go to another gig (Magenta) with Simon and his mate. I don't think he was all that impressed and they left early lol.

It was Astoria 2 or something. I thought IQ sounded great live, although I wasn't a huge fan generally.

IQ are certainly having a golden age at the moment, but Subterranea is still my favourite...

Sad that you rate “Resistance” so low below the other studio albums I personally think its an incredible album imho but it’s not in my top five IQ albums

I agree that it's sad, but that's how I feel.  I never skip songs on any albums, but I am finding myself doing this with Resistance.  There are too many songs that I just don't like.

Right now, I would shorten it to: A Missile/If Anything/For Another Lifetime/The Great Spirit Way

My favourite band.  THE most consistent band.  But Resistance is a letdown (IMHO)

Confused
